legomuppet9 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I am proud to present my Unimog U5000. Unimog U5000 by legomuppet9, on Flickr I used Nico 71's Unimog V2 chassis with some minor modifications to accommodate the pieces I didn't have (the most noticeable of which was the steering). Onto that I created my own body, which can be removed in three pieces. It has pendular suspension on the front and rear axles, the rear being supported by hard springs. It is driven by an XL motor geared down 1:15.003. The end result is 217.54 Ncm of torque and 9.7rpm (calculations thanks to Sariel's Gear Ratio Calculator ). The steering is done using an M Motor with a gear ratio of 1:9 and a 16 tooth gear drives a 4L steering rack. An inline 4 cylinder engine is also powered by an M Motor with a ratio of 2:1. The drive and steering is connected to an IR Receiver and the engine is connected straight to the Battery Box. Unimog U5000 by legomuppet9, on Flickr On the back I am proud to include an England Flag, which was actually quite challenging to build... Unimog U5000 by legomuppet9, on Flickr A moving shot now... I quite like photography too... Unimog U5000 Engine by legomuppet9, on Flickr Finally a picture of the engine at speed I am hoping to do the video this afternoon, there's actually blue sky and sunshine in England! Quote
DLuders Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) @ legomuppet9: That's a nice "studded" adaptation of Nico71's Unimog v2 Trial Truck. Does the front bonnet on your truck flip up to reveal the engine bay? Edited November 18, 2012 by DLuders Quote
legomuppet9 Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 No, but it is only connected with four pins. More on that in the video, but its started to rain... Quote
legomuppet9 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) It has stopped raining enough for me to make my video, although, sorry, it is a bit dark, and very quickly edited: http://www.flickr.co...N08/8200682890/ Part 2: http://www.flickr.com/photos/76710988@N08/8200760714/ Edited November 19, 2012 by legomuppet9 Quote

legomuppet9 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 i thought the union jack was a bit hard otherwise I would have done that... Quote

mauricemonkey Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Ok thanks. would it fit bigger wheels? Ok thanks. would it fit bigger wheels? Quote
legomuppet9 Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 Yes, although bigger wheels would hit the mudguards Quote
mauricemonkey Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 But the mudguards could be removed? Quote
legomuppet9 Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 Yes, but it would hit the side of the bodywork as well. Quote
mauricemonkey Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 What happens if u take off the bodywork...? Quote
legomuppet9 Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Then it would probably be ok, however I can't try as it is now taken apart. Edited December 10, 2012 by legomuppet9 Quote
