xwingyoda Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 My fellow Nintendo fans, I call upon you on that grave moment (I'm getting so lyrical right now its absurd :-D ) I need a strategy to get me pass the most crappy moment of the game ever !! I tried it so many time and failed miserably, I don't find it amusing anymore >:-( In the citadel, I am at the point where I go to the tavern and I need to escort that Zoran kid to Cocorico (or whatever the name is) The first part is so simple (how to cross the bridge) I need a good strategy on the second part please !! What should I do ?? Any insight would be well appreciated !! Many tks in advance ;-) *yoda* Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Notice how the cart changes direction off the path when one of those birds drops a bomb thing and spooks the horse pulling the cart? Either using the same Gale Boomerang you were using to put out the fire, or just arrows, Z-target any birds that get near the cart so they don't interrupt (or the cart will go in the same loop forever *wacko* ) Just don't forget that you can target the cart with the Z-button like I did, getting through it by just using good aim is really, really annoying. Trust me on this :-P Also, just stay a little behind the cart so you can put out fires and see the bird coming beforehand. I think there are a total of two birds who you have to shoot down. Hope this helps, if I wasn't clear on anything, feel free to ask me to clarify. Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 Tks hehe !! So I had the good strategy but I am a terrible aiming person *wacko* For me its either: *shoot the birdies and the cart is totally flamed *protect the cart indefinitly Its really hard to aim on the darn stupid Epona !! While you aim, that idiot horse goes strait :'-( and usually near a cliff or against a wall when you really need your time to "deflame" that crappy cart !! Ok so I don't have to shoot every single birdie then, thats encouraging really !! Right now I can think of 2 in the first field and obviously the last one in field 2 !! Darn, I have to redo that again for the X time :-X Zelda On !! *yoda* Quote

I got to the second area before I realized I could target the cart...after that it became easy :-$ If you think that's frustrating wait until...well, I don't want to spoil. Let's just say "Hot Water" X-D Quote

Let's just say "Hot Water" X-D Oops, I don't like the sound of that :-D Seriously, so far I thought the game was great and not too difficult (even the bosses - which is the area I dislike in those games - I way prefer the adventure hehe) That darn horse is a pain to ride !! Does it damage a lot the cart if you throw arrows at it ?? I must have shot it dozens of times :-D Patience is all I need for that, but its so aggravating that I have a tendency to loose it *sing* Will try again tommorrow *wacko* *yoda* Quote

And yeah, I know what you mean about aggravation. As for the bosses, I think the next boss you'll face (if I remember correctly) is one of the most fun to fight in the game! This was the first Zelda I played since A Link to the Past, so I'm glad it wasn't too hard, and the boss battles were always fun. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 You think Epona has terrible controls? You obviously didn't play Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Epona's controls are godly in Twilight Princess when you compare them to those games. As for strategy, I just ran all over the field slashing all enemies with my sword. Doubt I even used the bow there. Then again, you might need the bow if those damn birds will stay up high. Quote

Ahh, so you are of the slash and run type then :-P I probably can try that since I'm terrible at aiming on that crap horse :-D *yoda* Quote
Scouty Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I had a bit of trouble. I wonder, maybe, just maybe, try getting off the horse? I haven't tried it and probably it isn't a good idea. Opposed to 4J's idea of "staying a bit behind the cart", Go ahead of the cart, stay at the corner, and wait till the birdie comes and shoot an arrow at it and will perish for it's cruelty! :-P . Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Well if you do that, the cart may catch fire and be "dead" by the time it gets to you. The bird only intervenes at two intervals, so it shouldn't be hard to get. As for walking, the cart is way too fast for that :-P Quote
Scouty Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Where I was, there was a Hill at the near part of the place where the birde dropped the bomb, I think. You can just position yourself up there :-) . No, I went ahead and the cart was fine....do you smell wood burning? Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 G, I feel like a total retard *wacko* I tried again like 5 times thgis morning !! arghhh can someone comes home and do that for me !! When I finally will pass that, i will slash/bomb (and what have you) that horrendous Epona *skull* BTW, I have another question hehe !! In the bottom of the huge lake (oops, can't remember the name :-$ ) on the small island just before the canon that shoots you up to the flying chicken fun game (where you find a piece of heart btw), there is a stupid parrot flying there !! What is his purpouse ? When you talk to him, he doesn't listen and nothing happens. If he is here, there should be a reason IMO. Is it for later in the game (maybe after you rescue that Zoran kid ? Tks again for all your answers ;-) Here is a quizz hehe How did I call myself in the game ? :-P *yoda* Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Did you talk to the parrot as Link? Because you do realize you can only talk to animals as a wolf, right? ;-) Anyway, I don't think the parrot is storyline related, but when you talk to him you can play a minigame. Quote

How did I forgot that *wacko* loooool, I guess my Epona troubles totally clouted my brain :-D Btw, do you gain a heart part doing that minigame (like the chicken flying game and the rapid canoe shooting game ?) I would imagine so ;-) *yoda* Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I think you do, but I haven't played Zelda for a couple of weeks now. It's a minigame in which you need to fly the shadow bird to Upper Zora's River while collecting fruit. Seems hard at first but is actually terribly easy if you know what to do. Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 Cool tks !! I guess its like the canoe game: if you have a max score ou gain a heart part hehe !! Oh boy, how I want to end that epona tragedy and continue on my insect/coin collecting ;-) Wii On !! *yoda* Quote
Scouty Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 So you got the heart piece from the flying-chicken game? I played the canoe game...and..and...I came up ONE point behind from winning something :'-( . Ah well, I'll try it again soon!!!! Wii on! Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 13, 2007 Author Posted January 13, 2007 YEAY !! Eye of the tiger my friends :-P Yesterday evening I sat in front of the white box and told myslef: "my dear, you are not moving from this seat (except for coffee or bathroom brakes off course :-D ) until you pass that cr Quote
Scouty Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I knew about the heartt piece :-P , I was asking you, if you had gotten the piece :-P . BTW, here is how to get another piece of heart in the citadel !! There is a guy standing who asks for donations: I thought that was suppose to be for a particular purpose, so I kept giving him money until he offerd me a part of heart blink.gif You need to give that man 1000 rubies !! Not cheap at all hmpf.gif The quickest way to give him that many is to sell your bugs to the bug girl in the citadel hehe !! Easy money !! I'll take that into consideration! Though, back in Kakaroki village, if you go into the first shop(where you got you shiny pretty metal shield) you are asked to donat some money to help for the fixing of the bridge, and that they can get a new store in Castle Town. P.S.: I really think there is something wrong with that baby/thingy/mabober child that's in the store. He dosen't look like a baby, but is realllly small :-D . Quote

If you do the Hot Springwater sidequest, you only have to donate 200 rupees instead of 2000 to get them a shop in Castle town (which sells Magical Armor). Oh, and it's Kakariko ;-) Quote
Scouty Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Oops :-$ , thats the OOT village. I don't what to do with that person! I get the hot-spring water, i go up to him, talk to him! And, Everything! I guess it's not time for him yet. Quote

Oh, and it's Kakariko ;-) How do you do that sidequest ? And do you guys have a good strategy for the grapple star game in the citadel ? I tried like 20 times and all I did was loosing 200 rubies >:-( *yoda* Quote

I tried like 20 times and all I did was loosing 200 rubies >:-( *yoda* 1. After you donate 1000 rupees to get the bridge fixed in Malomart, speak to the old Goron right outside. He'll ask if you can bring some hot spring water across a part of Hyrule field and over the new bridge to a waiting goron on the other side to rejuvinate him. It's actually not as hard as it seems at first (if you get hit, you drop the barrel and it breaks open--you need to start again). And don't forget, Hyrule field is big and full of enemies without Epona or Wolf Form ;-) Try running around the side of Hyrule, where enemies spawn less. When one of those bird things comes near you, stop and put the barrel down, and shoot them from a distance with your arrows. If they get anywhere near your barrel you're in trouble, any contact with it will break it. My cousin got lucky and just managed to run straight through without getting hit, but don't count on that kind of luck happening often :-P When you get there, throw the barrel on the Goron, and he'll feel revived. The second part of the donations (2000 rupees) will now only be 200. 2. For the grapple star game (I swear when I first entered that tent, I thought I'd be in a boss fight somehow *wacko* you need to use the hookshot for the first round. Try to get as many in one shot as possible. And fire as fast as possible. You're using the Wii version, right? The Gamecube version is notorious for almost being unbeatable. Like someone said to me once "If you're using the Wii version, just fire a lot. If you're using the Gamecube version, I'm sorry, you're screwed ^_^" The second round of the game is only playable with the item from the City in the Sky dungeon, so wait until then to do round 2. Hope this helped *sweet* Quote

And do you guys have a good strategy for the grapple star game in the citadel ? I tried like 20 times and all I did was loosing 200 rubies >:-( *yoda* I beat both of those star games on my first try. Just look around, aim for a star, and repeat. There's no trick for it, you just need skill. As for the Hot Springwater sidequest, I had a lot of trouble with the thingies that come out of the ground. Much more annoying then the birds to me. Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 Tks SW4J ;-) I will do that sidequest after I am out of the dungeaon N of the Gerudo desert ;-) Yeay I finally got that Star game !! It only took like 30 tries :-D *yoda* Quote
