MarkusOSX Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) looks fantastic but arent 2XL motors a little too weak? those insane polish freaks usually use 4 buggy motors for their truck trial trucks! also i find this 26sec videos pretty annoying. id prefer one long video that shows everything. and why are you using 2 recivers? isnt it only steering + drive? or did i miss something? keep up the fantastic work Sadly i don´t have the buggy motors, but these would be also my first choice then. I thinx two XL Motors are not to weak, cause the transmission uses two wormgears, but we´ll see if it works or not. I will make a "long" video, till all is fixed. Atm I´m changing the steering system, cause its definitely to weak. As Kevinator said: "I believe he had to use two receivers because it needs two motor directions due to the layout of the driveline" <-- That´s right. I guess there is some more to change or fix, but this happens time after time... @ Kevinator: The MiniTruck based on my Design is awesome. Fantastic work. Can you plz make a pic from the back and bottom for me Greetz Markus Edited October 25, 2012 by MarkusOSX Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 @ Kevinator: The MiniTruck based on my Design is awesome. Fantastic work. Can you plz make a pic from the back and bottom for me Greetz Markus :D I am glad that you like it! I took some more pictures. I can't wait to see your awesome trial truck driving! This is the underside of the chassis, you can see the rubber bands I used for suspension Here is the top of the chassis Another view And a posing shot :) Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 This MiniTruck is really cool. You´ve inspired me to make a smaller model Greetz Markus Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Awesome :D inspiration begets inspiration haha. I haven't seen any model use those tires in a looong time Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Okay, last one! Haha Now the technic man has his own toy :) too bad I only had two grey #3 connectors Quote
Paul202 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Hey if you don't mind me asking, approximately how mcuh did all the parts cost when you ordered form Bricklink. I am looking to build an 4x4 truck, but I want to know how much it will cost. Also, what store did you order from? Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Hi Paul202, it´s hard to say how much all parts cost. Depends on some factors. If you order only new parts (like me) you have to calculate between 200 - 300 € (if you need all parts). But i guess it will be much cheaper, if you have already some parts and order only used parts. I came from germany, so I´ve ordered most of the parts from german shops like TBS or Magic Magnus for example. I can´t tell you, what a 4x4 will cost, depends also on which parts you need and if you want new or used. Greetz Markus Okay, last one! Haha I bet you can´t beat this size *gg Greetz Markus Edited October 25, 2012 by MarkusOSX Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Funny you should say, I did try something haha Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I can't make any smaller than this, and it is not quite right, so this is the last, sorry for jacking your thread so long Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 If only I didn't have to deal with physics ;) Quote
matias bendtsen Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Eat this... "snip" Greetz build it with real bricks. Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 build it with real bricks. Haha. Mine's smaller anyway ;) Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Ok, you've got the "smallest"..... haha Back to Topic now. I think I will redesign the Chassis a bit to use linear actuators for steering. I've tried two different solutions now and none of them really satisfied me. Will take a time to get the Truck finished. Greetz Markus Edited October 27, 2012 by MarkusOSX Quote
Kevinatorrr Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 How many actuators will it take? Big or small? Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Four actuators, the same like on the excavator. Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) OK, I´ll make the chassis completely new. I think the steering with the linear actuators will be very stable and tight. This is how it´s look like: And I also think about a drivetrain with lockable differential. Greetz Markus Edited October 27, 2012 by MarkusOSX Quote
Paul202 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Wouldn't linear actuator powered steering mean that it would take forever to turn? Edited October 28, 2012 by Paul202 Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 Sry, I don´t understand what you mean with "forever to turn". Greetz Markus Quote
MarkusOSX Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Ok, i think new design is finished. Here you can see the new steering and drivetrain system. Complete chassis Body is the same New door for batterie access In this version I need only one IR-receiver. So I need to order some other parts, befor I can build it new.
