dongo Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Hi all, This is my last creation, the Crystal Palace, a MOC based on a building that you can find if you visit Madrid, Spain. Quote
Garyn Dakari Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Wow....That's a lot of transparent pieces. VERY neat Quote
Santaduckz Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 This is so bizarre! I was thinking about doing this the other day haha! But this is amazing. It is absolutely gold. Is it at all stable? Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Wonderful trans-clear creation 'dongo' and Brick On ! Quote
Kristel Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 The entrance is really well done. The way you have done the columns, the colour combination and the use of the spindled fences gives it a nice old Grecian feel. The multiple steps make it look very grand, too. I do think though that there is too much transparency in the main part of the building. I think it would benefit from more solid pieces to frame sections of the transparent ones, like a frame to hold the large glass sections. Quote
nana Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 This is gorgeous! With some proper lighting, this crystal palace could shine beautifully. I agree that at first glance, it seems to have too much transparency. I googled the photo of the real Crystal Palace in Spain. It does have more frames in the second floor. Quote
Blue Wren Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Wow, this is breathtaking. I agree with the others that on the second level it needs more arches, or at least some slivers of solid colour between the large windows to counteract the long band of transparency. But I'm just being picky. I think your build is amazing. Quote
Ferrik Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 That looks superb. All those transparent pieces definitely create the look of glass. The roof looks spectacular, nice work. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Neat how transparent you got it to be The pillars are impressive Quote
Hoexbroe Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Will you be bringing this one to Barcelona in November, for the annual HispaLUG Expo¿? -Of course it would be very unfortunate for you, as nobody will notice this small palace situated just next to my mighty MegaMOC! ;-) (hehe, just kidding...) Quote
harton Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 This is really clever, the upper section is great and of course the front too. I could be interesting to see more frame, but as I saw on my research on Google it is really similar, in all the forms. Well done. Quote
dongo Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Yep, Hoex, it will be in the Hispalug Expo and hopefully just by your Mega Moc. I've chosen to use more and more trans and reduce framework to minimum because the white hinges already make lines. I just wanted to build something transparent and taking the challenge of building a structure without tricks using a light but solid and stable structure. The moc is completed with a pond in front of it and I'll probably add some modern style sculptures because the real building is a museum. Quote
Kai NRG Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 All that trans-clear! That really looks neat, I love the pillars in front especailly! Great job! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Very cool, original, building dongo! This is really something unique to display, I like it a lot Quote
