exo attack Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Oh yeah, I just remember doing a language sheet about prehistoric horses. They were small an did get bigger - and another thing. Give them three toes becuase they used to have three toes then they lost two because they only used their middle toe. Quote
dillthepill Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Never mind. Ive got another idea. You could put a river out side the cave. You can use minifig arms for fish! Well, if I put the river outside the cave that would make the Cave set bigger and I would only have four sets. I will probably stick to your first idea, but I may do a few mini fish like you suggested. Quote
Brainbox Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Humans did coexist with neanderthals though, however we won out ;-) If you're just going for fantasy though, feel free to just do whatever :-P Actually, scientists think we interbred. Interestingly, there also the possibility of another human species, Homo floresiensis, which died out about 13,000 years ago. But sightings of this 'hobbit' could have occured up to 300 years ago. Hmm... First off, the only to mammals to coexist with dinosaurs were small marsupials and shrew like insectivors. There was one other mammal around with the dinosaurs- the Didelphodon. It was small, hairy and badger-sized. Horses started small. The original horse ancestor was the cat-sized Propalaeotherium, which lived around 49-43 million years ago. It was indeed 30-60 cm tall The giant sloth was called Megatherium. The date periods are roughly as follows: 4600 million years ago Formation of Earth 593-248 million years ago The Rise of Life (pre-dinosaur) 248-65 million years ago The Age of Reptiles 65 million-10,000 years ago The Age of Beasts (190,000 years ago Homo sapiens) 'Cavemen' never lived in caves. They stayed in caves, but moved about. Might I suggest anyone wanting to know more about any of this to obtain a copy of the BBC's 'Walking With...' series' (Dinosaurs, Beasts, Cavemen, Monsters (pre-dinosaurs)). BTW, don't let me curb anyone's creativity ;-) Quote
Hobbes Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Who cares about historical/scientific accuracy? Its a Lego theme. There really weren't undead skeleton armies in Castle times, Vikings didn't battle giant dragons, there are no martians on mars, etc. 8- Quote
dillthepill Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 'Cavemen' never lived in caves. They stayed in caves, but moved about. Well let's just say the tiger is attacking the cavemen's summer home. :-P Quote
exo attack Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Well, if I put the river outside the cave that would make the Cave set bigger and I would only have four sets. I will probably stick to your first idea, but I may do a few mini fish like you suggested. I meant you could do a swamp and a river. And that face on mars picture is freaky! * X-files theme tune starts playing * Quote
dillthepill Posted January 13, 2007 Author Posted January 13, 2007 All right, I'm ready to start building. I got a few Viking and Creator sets, plus all the tubs of bricks I already have. Right now, I am working on the crocodile set and the horse cart too. So far it is looking alright. I also have the cavemen heads ready, but I don't know what to do for the torsos. So far, it is running pretty smoothly. I may get this done by mid February! *sweet* Quote
exo attack Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Yay! Are you gonna post pics and instructions? Quote
dillthepill Posted January 13, 2007 Author Posted January 13, 2007 Yay! Are you gonna post pics and instructions? I will definately post pics when the sets are ready, but instrucions won't work out. I'm using pieces from my collection too, and you would have to buy a lot of sets other than the Creator and Viking ones. You might be able to build your own, though. Quote
oo7 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I am looking forward to seeing your set MOCs DTP, sounds very interesting, especially from an Exo fanatic like yourself. If you need some inspiration, check out these vignettes from our beloved member Big Daddy. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=167167 Those mocs use the troll loin cloth with what looks like a plain yellow torso. As for other torsos, the Indigo Islanders from the Pirate theme might work well; http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=pi066 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=pi069 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=pi070 The Western Injuns too; http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=ww024 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=ww018 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=ww023 Batman Scarecrow; http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=bat016 Mr. Brickster, you should be proud.^^ Quote
dillthepill Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 I have all the pieces I need for BC except for two minifigs. Anyways, I got two minifigs ready and am working on a prehistoric vehicle. Here is the first minifig, Tog And here is the second minifig, Bob. Hope you like them so far, and if you have any suggestions about them, just tell me. Quote
exo attack Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Cool! Do you have any islander legs? They woud be god for these guys. Will there be a female? Quote
dillthepill Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 Cool! Do you have any islander legs? They woud be god for these guys. Will there be a female? DOH!! I knew I forgot something! I actually will try to do a female. I think I have a good idea for a female. I will get the pics up in a jiffy of her. Than I will make another guy minifig when I get the set I need for it. Quote
oo7 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 The first torso looked OK at first glance, but humans really had no metal back then. All the black is also unrealistic, brown or tan would be better. Also, the Exo hair unfortunately does not go at all. :-( Finally they look to clean-shaven (imagine that! :-P ) Use the most hairy head you have, they didn't shave at all back then. ;-) Even stick on a hagrid beard, if you want to. Do you have any of the peices I previously mentioned? The Poisin Ivy torso is cool too, too bad it's only in flesh. Quote

I will try to get hairier faces, and I( I swear I didn't get this from you) am going to use Poison Ivy's torso for the girl. Quote

Yeah, the female's face doesn't need to be hairy. :-P Does this mean you will use a flesh face for the female? Does this also mean you own Arkham Asylum? Quote
exo attack Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Maybe he ordered the torso from bricklink. Quote
oo7 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Maybe he ordered the torso from bricklink. If he were to order anything minifig related from BL it should have been Indigo Islander parts. :-/ Quote
dillthepill Posted February 10, 2007 Author Posted February 10, 2007 Yeah, the female's face doesn't need to be hairy. :-P Does this mean you will use a flesh face for the female? Does this also mean you own Arkham Asylum? Yes and yes. I own that set and I will have to use a flesh face for her. Quote
oo7 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Ah, well if you own the set, why not use the scarecrow torso for a caveman? :-) (Give him one yellow arm but leave the other brown one, etc.) Quote
exo attack Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 You could use the yellow half naked princess lia torso. Wow, I wish I had Arkham. Quote
