jorgeopesi Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 My new project, a Kamaz truck 4x4 with 2 speed gearbox, 3 diferentials, only 15 studs between wheels with the point of steering very close from the wheel, only 1 stud and 2 XL motors for propulsion. I tried to do a leaf suspension but I don´t know why I did this rare thing but it works , anyone knows the name? or I called jorgeopesi mad suspension system . Quote
Lost_In_Noise Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Nice MOC. I think the suspension is called leaf-spring or something, but your idea is much better I'm looking forward to seeing the progress of this. Quote
Balrog Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Interesting build. I think you could either call it leaf spring or flat spring. There is multiple words for it. Though you built it different, the approach for a suspension is the same. Very interesting. Quote

Would love to see a video to see how well those XL's work. This is a variant of an "elliptic leaf spring". Se this article for more information. -ED- Edited September 21, 2012 by Nazgarot Quote

Thank you for comments. Quote
rm8 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Like these tires and everything that builded with them. Middle scaled truck with 2 xl motors (usually used with bigger scaled mocs) looks interesting. Also want to see how front wheels were driven Quote
timslegos Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 That is the most bizarre suspension system I have ever seen! Looks like it works though, very clever. tim Quote
jorgeopesi Posted September 23, 2012 Author Posted September 23, 2012 First test video, everything works fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhDcrXepvuI&feature=plcp Quote
Lost_In_Noise Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 First test video, everything works fine. Nice work. So, you use the mini LA to shift the changeover catch from neutral to forward gear? That's a nice feature. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) A smaller chassis for the truck, maybe kamaz maybe not but I don´t want to open a new tread, it will be a small truck anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwDitctPGjs Edited April 3, 2013 by jorgeopesi Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 i like the creative use of the rubber grips! Quote
timslegos Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 very clever setup with the rubber parts, I will keep this technique in mind. tim Quote
Bzroom Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Wow that's fast. I have two L's driving my new rig, it's fast but not nearly that fast. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 The solid leaf-springs are good but I think they are better in a bigger scale, It was hard but fun to use them in such a short space. The truth is that his speed surprised me, we will see what happens when I remove the leftover pieces and build the body. Quote
rm8 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I am afraid that with locked central diff small 12 bevel gears in it will slip under the high load. I live 180 km far from city, where Kamaz facility is situated:) Quote
jorgeopesi Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 My challenge was build the smallest truck I can with three differentials, of course it is not a trial truck it only has speed and maneuverability... but I have separate axles without differential and a more appropiate motor configuration to make it a small trial truck (bad trial truck with those wheels but the scale commands). Kamaz trucks look very strong, Dakar knows very very well . Quote
