alright, I've been working on this for the last couple of days, and am quite pleased about how this came out. However, me not scoring a single point in the last challenge got me thinking that I'd like to have more feedback on how to make this a really great entry this time. So here are some WIP shots I took today. Constructive comments would be apreciated ...

Well, what I can see is looking pretty good. If possible could you add a shot from back a little way so we can get a better feel of the overall composition of the build?

The rockwork is looking pretty good and there is plenty of color to the build. I would change out the brick or plate that is under the blue slope in the river where it dips. You can see the yellow underneath there.

i can see some good detail in the rocks and water. your not giving to much away so far :) cant wait to see some more

thanks for the quick answers guys!

@Kayne: I've just realized myself how dumb this looks and changed it right away, thanks!

@Rast: alright, I added two overall shots to the first post

It's looking nice so far, although I would suggest mking the temple in a color other than black, although black does give a bit of a "charred remains" effect. Good work on the smoothness of the river though.

Looking good Kabel! My only suggestion is to add a more impressive part to the ruins. So they look a little more awe inspiring, maybe a shrine or something similar.

Your landscaping is excellent

Thanks everybody for your feedback. I think this I going to be really helpful!

@kai: which color would you suggest, dark grey? There are a few elements of it in there, maybe I could just put some more in it.

@soccerkid: as you can see, the altar region of the temple hasn't been build yet, I'm still collecting ideas in my head

@kibosh: where do you think it lacks texture? At the rapid? I haven't really started working there yet and I'm of course waiting for more bushes etc. to arrive

Dark grey would be a good color. It's not that black looks bad either, it's just that I don't think I've heard of a black temple. . .

@Rast - I believe the max is 54 or so (58 or 52?) x5o whatever. :classic:

its acutally going to be 56 by 48

well, the black is part of the story, furthermore granite exposed for a long time looks like kinda black too. but you're right I'll mix in more some dark bley in my efforts to make the temple look nicer

Looking good so far. Here's some feedback:

  • The water looks really good
  • The rock banks of the river look good too
  • Good start on the temple ruins, although I think they need to be a bit more architecturally interesting. Not sure what I mean there, but the ruins aren't totally compelling yet. Maybe a bit more detailing, and some ruined pieces lying on the ground will help.
  • I find black to be a very difficult color to photograph. Details get lost. You might want to consider having the temple ruins mostly black with some details in another color.
  • The foliage on the bank and the tall tree look good. Hard to tell about the rest. My rule on foliage is - when in doubt, add more.
  • How do you get across the river to the temple? Those rock banks look too steep for the horse to go up. Maybe there will be a more approachable way up in the area you haven't built yet.

Post more WIP shots as you make more progress. Good luck!
