Simon_S Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Hey This is my entry for the Landscape Contest at Flickr. It's my first time I tried to build a swamp (or something similar) and I'm quite content with it . I would like to get your feedback on it. Thank you Büürli Burri (The pictures are Links to Flickr) Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Wow I love this MOC! The building technique is great: I like the transparent-green tiles on the black, green and yellow plates to make real the marsh effect! Superb work! Quote
kabel Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 swamp, trees, etc, is looking really great, however, your woodwork doesn't seem to work the way it ought to. Remove the horizontal beams by vertical ones and you'll be set to go! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 The swamp looks great. The effect of trans-green tiles on black, green and lime looks amazing and creates some of the swamp colours. Also the duck is a great design. Good luck in the contest! Quote
Captain Settle Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Great swamp. I love the marshes and that duck. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Nicely done, the different color plates under the trans green tiles add a very nice effect Quote
Rogue Angel Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Nice duck! I like the trans plates under the grass, and the tree technique works well here. I actually like the horizontal tiling on the tower - it makes it stand out. I can see wooden fortress/wall techniques being horizontal or vertical. Quote
fred67 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Very nice! I love landscaping, although I'm not very good at it myself. The different colors under the trans tiles is an excellent technique; I've got thousands of those 1x1 trans greens (pick-a-brick a couple of years ago... I thought they might come in handy some day, but I never thought I'd use them for water... I don't know what I was thinking, actually). The duck with the minifig hand is brilliant... better than any brick built one I've seen from LEGO, although they cannot use hands that way. The fort is excellent, too. The only thing that maybe doesn't seem like it fits is the lighter tan tiling. I would think, especially on the upper level, 1x? brown tiles would make it look more like wood planks. On the ground, the color is right for dirt, but tiles are too shiny. I like that it's studless, but in that case maybe studded would look more like dirt... or maybe dark tan tiles, if you wanted to keep it studless? I don't know... I've never made anything as nice as this, so it's just my two cents. EDIT: I suppose it does break up the brown a bit... if it were all brown it might not be so striking. I first had vertical ones on the tower, but it didn't look good, so I turned them. I know it's a little bit unrealistic (especially with the vertical ones on the wall), but it looks much better.
