JopieK Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Hi guys,I have been busy building parts for our display at LEGOWORLD 2012, Zwolle, the Netherlands. We still have 1,5 months, but we reserved quite some space so we also need to fill that ;)Here one of the sub parts. We will build a mining city with underground mining details like this: So one of the mine ways. We are serious, so really don't enter! Here is the blasting guy with a servo and a nylon thread attached to the detonator t-bar (I only needed to modify the round brick a bit). There also is a piece of hose underneath that is pushed back by the servo. So this is the railbike they arrived on. With a compartment for that nice TNT stuff ;) The blasting team has their own railbike. Of course safety is a large issue in mines so we needed to put up a lot of signs to comply with all those regulations ;) B.t.w. I don't know what happened, I see my pictures upside down (not at my computer or at the original source)... As you can see in the video, the blasting guy is animated. The end of the tunnel also lights up. Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Let me guess....it's a coal mine.....down under ? Looks interesting so far 'JopieK'.....neat robotic work and lighting effects too ! Brick On Mine On 'JopieK' ! Quote
JopieK Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Thanks for the comments lightningtiger, we are also on the verge of automating the narrow gauge trains. PArts are already working, but not everything is done yet. Of course we know the kids love animation, that is why we (my wife and I) do it after all... Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Tell me your secret to get your wife to support and help your projects please.....mine is a problem sometimes ? Oh, I can't wait to see the rain system in action.....Brick On ! (footnote - aw, I though it was down under....it's now the right way up those images ) Quote
JopieK Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 Yups it would have been fun down under, but I guess some data from my phone caused it, the secret?!! Well I influenced her early on in our relation I guess ;) apart from that.. It is handy that she likes Lego otherwise the budget would be smaller I guess :) Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Cool coal mine! Looking forward to seeing some updates Quote
streifen Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Your 1st picture with the Danger sign is so hostile! Looking forward to your updates! Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 As early promises very well, I can't wait to see the rest of this MOC :classic: Quote
JopieK Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 Well, here is the first update. Another small underground module: a miner with a pickaxe. Here are the pictures, this time not upside down: The miner at work... As you can see he has a working light on his helmet. The small cable is not visible to the spectator. The whole module. It will be embedded in styrofoam plates so that a town can be built on top (and the above ground parts of the mine). Here is the video: !The servo makes a lot of noise (it is apparently a bit faulty, but it is a very cheap one so if it breaks down no problem to replace it). Quote
JopieK Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 And... another module... now a minetrain underground, with the illusion that the track go way down into the mountain. Here without flash: I am also already quite far with the above ground parts of the colliery including the shaft elevator machine (also animated). Still have about a month but my master Thesis has priority so not much time ;) Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Dark tunnel....headlights on....perfect scene in a mine 'JopieK'.....Brick On ! Quote
