MadManMingo Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) ... no unfortunately... it's not a Modular Madness contendor... I'm not worthy yet I'm a big fan of Blue Bards creations. That guy really got talent. Way back in 2009, he made a nice little postoffice primaryly of the bricks in 4996. And I thougt, hey great, I got that set, and my town really needed a postoffice. I dumped the yellow beach house and started of. The ground floor is an almnost exact copy of Blue Bards... I totally admit. But I really liked the design. Hope you'r ok with this copycat Blue Bard? Who knew that Steven Spielberg had to work part time as a postman At first my plan was to make it in modular standards. But during the build it didn't seem right and my son needed it more in his city, more than my modular shelf did. A thing was also, that i hated a green lawn outside the front door. That really looked akward. I didn't have enough tiles to make a modular-wide sidewalk. So the decission was made. I took out one side of the building to make it more City-ish and playable for a five year old kid, and I aded a small sidewalk, with the tiles I had. The copying of Blue Bard started to feel wrong too. So I made a different rooftop. Notice the little "Panic button". Just in case... The sailor-guy finally got his stamp. And a few shots in a bigger context. Maybe I'll invert the building to Modular standards some day. But for now, my son has to learn what such a building did in the good old days. The danish postal-service are shutting down most postoffices as a consequence of the digital revolution. Even in rather big cities. Maybe thats why we havn't seen any buildings like this from TLG lately. Thanks for watching Edited August 3, 2012 by MadManMingo Deep-linked over-sized images. 800X600 max! -Phred Quote

phonciplebone Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I LOVE that outside trash can. So simple, yet terrifyingly effective. Those are always my favorite things to so. Something seemingly difficult, but so simple in execution. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Excellent post office! I like that you made it with pieces from the yellow beach house Looks great with the other buildings too Quote

Something seemingly difficult, but so simple in execution. Thanks! I would have loved to say, that it was my own design. But it's not. Can't remember just who came up with the idea, but you see it in a lot of moc's from different afol'. Unfurtunately I think it's too fragile to end up in an official Lego set. But you'r right, it's great Also thanks Soccerkid6 Quote
Bregir Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Great build! I too love the trashcan :) I like the modular standards, but I don't like them to be a constraint on building, so for me, stretching them is perfectly fine! :) Quote
fhomess Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I really like the use of cheese slopes in the letter filing system to have them all sit on a slight angle. Quote
