Race Buggy Radio Controller and Receiver Unit Problem

Thanks, the wheels go smooth (there are two buggies attached), but, I've forgot to mention, the steering function does this without them running and in hand too.

A question is how would I know which one's fault is, receiver or remote control, assuming the batteries are OK.

I see why these are not produced anymore, hard to integrate and replace, but I'd have liked such power functions, if they've just made these more modular.
