link7996 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Hello guys! I just joined the forums today because of an extremely important issue I've experienced. Recently, I bought the LEGO Mines of Moria set for myself. I had fun building it, until I noticed that Pippin's head was missing! Unfortunately (and partly by my fault), I threw out the building instructions right before I started building because I prefer using the online versions of the building instructions. In regards to the Pippin head, I contacted LEGO that the piece was missing, and they asked for a Proof of Purchase. However, since I had thrown out the instructions, I could not find the proof of purchase (even after foraging through the trash can, which my mom had cleaned out). I desperately need the Pippin head because it's essential to the set. So my question is, would anyone be able to provide me with a proof of purchase for the Moria set? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! ~link7966
BrickPicker Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) They are selling for about $5-$10 on EBAY. That might be an easier solution. Otherwise, you can use a different head from a similar minifigure. Check out Bricklink. Edited July 31, 2012 by BrickPicker

Otherwise, you can use a different head from a similar minifigure. Check out Bricklink. Honestly I think $5-$10 is ALOT to ask for just a small part of a small minifigure. Though I would rather have the original head, it's not a bad idea to just use another head.
fred67 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Unfortunately (and partly by my fault), I threw out the building instructions right before I started building because I prefer using the online versions of the building instructions. That makes no sense. I'm sorry, I just can't believe that you opened the package, immediately threw away the instructions and the box, and then took so long to build the set (and Pippen was in the FIRST STEP of building instructions) that garbage collection had already come and gone and there was simply no way to get the instructions. Ok, let's say your story is completely true and you're not just trying to get a free part from TLG; you can follow the advice already given (yes, $5.00 is a lot for a head... it's called a "stupid tax," the tax we pay when we do something stupid - and I'm no exception, so don't take it as an insult - we all do dumb things sometimes), or you can use a different head, and you can learn a lesson. Edit: and from now on, don't throw away the instructions. Ever. Edited July 31, 2012 by fred67
sharky Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 This issue doesn't seem all that extreme or important.

Edit: and from now on, don't throw away the instructions. Ever. I was thinking the exact same thing as their are so many holes in the story, that I can't really believe you. I just feel you are trying to get another free head from customer service, or don't even have the set. Therefore, I am a bit hesitant, but your best bet is to just buy a replacement from Ebay or Bricklink like others have said. If you don't want to pay the $5, just use another head.

I agree. Not saying the OP is necessarily lying, for some people perhaps the above is indeed logical and usual behaviour. But if you're really so eager to throw things away and be careless, then stuff like this might happen. You should take it as a lesson and don't do it again.
HumanPackMule Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Take a lesson from the folks on the show "Hoarders". Maybe if you hoard enough soda cans you can trade them in for the money needed for the part.
Big Cam Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Being that this was your very first post and you haven't really come back since, I'm going to close this. Your story simply doesn't make sense.
