They cannot heal themselves (they are not a cleric or an advanced class of a cleric, and they have no potions). HOWEVER, you may use a potion on them, and heal them for 10 health. It will cost you your turn and a potion, but it may make strategical sense. It's up to you! You could even wait a few rounds before doing it, if you'd like.

The diamond in Siercon's pocket started to glow... Emanating with heat he pulled it out. It was hot to the touch but didn't burn. "I thought this was only useful if it was fixed to the staff..." he wondered. Regardless he gripped it in his left hand and channeled the energy through his body to his staff. Thrusting the staff forward, Siercon attacked Barkington from the back row with his first light spell in Heroica. Regardless of the resulting damage, it was blinding and awesome. ;)

OoC: There ya go, Siercon! When you have more weapons, mention which one you're channeling the spell through, because it will matter for damage calculation. Since you only have one weapon, that isn't important right now. Also, make sure you learn which spells are good against which enemies. It will, again, become important later.

Round Four Pillus Battle

The battle continues. L'Oreal heals Russel and Pigley, who try to fight, but are still woozy from recovering and unable to hit anything. Siercon fires off his first spell with spectacular results, hitting Barkley, who is thrown back yelping by the blast of light. Pillus jumps clear, off Barkley's back, at the last moment, and the pair face down the heroes, who look like they may have just turned the battle.

With that, L'Oreal steps into the back row and pokes Pillus with his poisoned scimitar.

"just in case this doggie survives their attack I'll try to finish him off." Siercon said. This may be a wasted attack, but he wanted to make sure errors cost them at this crucial increase momentum. Siercon attacks Barkley with a light spell through his staff from the back row. A light spell he is very anxious to use on this dark little froggy!

[Zepher]

OoC: Now, you get to see how QM's make mistakes too! I forgot to deduct the one ether your spell cost last round Siercon. This has been fixed.

Round Five Pillus Battle

The battle continues. Russel and Pigley bear down on Barkley and hold him at sword point. "Yield" the dog whimpers. Siercon fires off another spell that slams into the Dark Frog Paladin's side. L'Oreal pokes the end of his blade into the Frog gingerly, but the poison flows forward all the same. As the Frog cringes from the new chemical in his blood stream (-1), Russel calls out to his allies.

"Yield Toad!" Siercon stated fully capable of telling difference between a toad and a frog. "Your dark magic cannot withstand the four of us." With this he draws upon his strength to attack Pillus with a light spell through his staff from the back row. The exertion starts to show as the delayed effect of the effort Siercon made from his previous spells have now caught up to him. Regardless he presses forward!

OOC: I suppose that we cant distribute the drops from the first fallen in a battle... ie we dont have access to those potions until the battle is over?

"Your mutt has given up, frog. If you are a frog, and not a toad. I'm not really sure there's a difference. Anyway, die!"

A sudden burst of courage flowing through him, L'Oreal summersaults into the front row to smite Pillus with his poisoned blade.

OOC: Also, could someone please explain the +6 gold for Russel/Pigley?

OoC: Their job class is a Rogue, so when they roll shield, they gather gold equal to the amount of damage they deal. They dealt a total of 6 damage, because that's all the health Barkley had left (they could have dealt 8 if he had been at full health).

Round Six Pillus Battle

The battle continues. Russel and Pigley stab at the Frog, who blasts them back with a holy blast from his huge throat. Siercon now feels like he's mastered his element. Magic bubbles forth and explodes out. Since Pillus is the only enemy, he is the only one hit, but even so, Siercon saves ether on the attack that seemed to come of it's own accord. The Frog whips out it's tongue and bounces upwards into L'Oreal's face, lashing one of his eye holes. L'Oreal stumbles back. The poison takes it's toll.

Siercon was please with how effective the spell was and repeats the process. "I'll cover for you! Com'on Pillow!" He said. He then attacked Pullis from the back row with a holy spell channelled through his staff.

OOC: So even though Pullis is a 'dark' necromancer frog, is he counted as a standard 'beast' (asking in regards to my light spells :)

"Sweet, loot! Well for starters L'oreal, you automatically get a potion(or a potions worth) for using one on our friends. So don't consider one of the potions in your loot divvying. I think we all agree you should have it prior to the breakdown." Siercon said, leaning up against a tree. "What would you say to taking all the potions and gold and leaving me the staff?"

"I'd say that sounds more than fair, Siercon. Don't know what I would do with a staff, anyway! But I can't take all the gold, that'd be just devilish. I'll take the potions and the tonic, along with 10 gold. Siercon, you grab the other 10 gold and that fancy staff."

L'Oreal proceeded to divy up the loot in the manner which he had described.

"Well, Russel, Pigley, it looks like we got 'em. Where do we go from here? Looks like that frog died - good one there, crab - but the mutt yielded. Do you want us to interrogate him?"

[Siercon and Coral]

"Thank you very much L'oreal!" Siercon said picking up the staff. He then looked at Russel and Pigley almost as if to be dismissed. "Our work is done here? Do we need to help escort this hound to the pound?" he promptly regretted saying such lame rhyme.

[Zepher]

"The pound indeed! A rogue I may be, but a lord I remain!"

Russel chuckles.

"Interrogate him? Whatever for? We were hired to track down and kill Pillus, we did just that. Pigley and I will go to High Priest Pylon to collect our reward. We'll take Barkley along with us. Perhaps we'll be able to find him a new home! But first, we'll escort you back to your hall."

It is another day of marching, but eventually the heroes arrive on the outskirts of Eubric.

"Here is the 50 gold promised you. We'll throw in 12 of the gold that we took off Pillus. That brings both of your rewards up to 31 gold! Nearly more than we're getting from Pylon."

"Some of that gold is mine!"

"Taken in fair combat. Be thankful the heroes did not skin you and turn you into a fashionable hat."

"Farewell heroes! Pigley and I will be in your debt if ever we meet again, and so will Barkley, even if he won't admit it."

"I shall. A lord pays his dues. You spared me heroes, I shall not forget."

Russel and Barkley set off. Pigley lingers for a few more seconds.

"Keep the two cowls, heroes, you deserve them. What are you off to next? Off to fight bigger better battles? Rid the world of evil? Ha! Never forget, heroes, we are but mere lights in the night sky. Best of luck. May our paths cross again."

The grumbling pig sets off as well, and the heroes face the city, and the Hall that they may now officially call home.
