What do you think of the Islander sets?

What is this "It" that you speak of? Are you talking about the entire theme, a particular fig, a set, an accessory, etc?

It would be great if this post was more substance to this post, so that I know exactly what your opinion is and why you have that opinion. Then, we could have a discussion on the Islander topic.

They're not bad. Just not great. 6278 Enchanted island was one of my favourite sets back in the day. I only ever had smaller pirate sets and no ships but the island was great, islanders peering round corners waiting to attack the pirate invaders. lots of fun in a box.

Now I'm not so fond. with the advances in torso prints and designs the islanders could do with an update. The concept of having some natives in the pirates theme is great but they don't stand the test of time well. Actually I think it's probably time for Lego to move over from yellow skinned minifigs to fleshtones. The islanders might look better in dark flesh. have a bit more zing to them.

I'm all for a revival if they were rebooted. I don't think the old sets sit well in terms of colour usage and parts. They need to be sent back to the drawing board and rebuilt.

To tell the truth, I didn't like them at first. But then I get my hands on a few and now think they are a nice addition to the pirate theme. When Lego is finished with POC, I'm hoping we'll see islanders again.

The islander figures are really cool but the sets and others are not my thing.

I think the islanders should be there own theme.The thing of pirates against natives to me doesnt have much action or whatnot.

It seems the pirates just steel the treasure instead getting into a battle like the imperials soldiers and guards.

The islanders though have some nice collectible peices like the zebra printings and king kahukas mask.

The islanders did feel a little out of place from the whole theme, but with time I got to like them a lot more. The minifigs are good. I finally got the female islander minifig a few days ago (only had the males before that) and I must admit that her torso is great!

The Islanders seem to be getting a lot of love considering they were the least popular Pirate sub-theme, but I'm wondering who is voting for them.

So come forth Islander lovers and show yourselves!

I voted for them! I love Islanders(although I only got a couple of sets, and that was very long ago). I like the brightness of the sets, and the minifigs are great.

They're ok. I really wish they emphasized more of an Aztec theme -- you know, buried stone temples in a jungle being discovered by Conquistadors. That sort of thing. At least, that's what I always pictured in my head when playing with the sets. That one totem-like structure off to the side on the Enchanted Island really got my imagination going. I wanted to see more buildings and structures like that, and more covered in jungle :)

I'm quite fond of the Islanders. They add variety to the minifigure selection and the set architecture, and they're an outside force with no stake in the petty treasure squabbles of the pirates and the navy, so they can act as opposition for both factions or neither.

I have nothing against the Islander sets afterall they do have some interesting pieces.

I really liked them as a kid. If Lego were to come out with a new line I would like to see Caribbean Islanders instead of Polynesian.

I do like the islanders, although I don’t use them a whole lot. They do ad a bit of diversity to the pirates theme, and islanders or “cannibals” are not exactly an uncommon thing in pirate fiction. The sets are a bit rickety, at least I think that is the term I am looking for, in terms of style, but that is to be expected from what they are trying to portray. One thing they really could need is a larger diversity among the figures; we only have 3 or 4 different figures if we don’t count the quivers as a distinguishing feature.

I love 'em. As a kid I never really even considered the redcoats/bluecoats as seperate armies (it honestly never even occured), so the Islanders represented a third faction. And they're just cool. What kind of pirate adventure is it if you don't end up encountering hostile native tribes at some point, eh?

Anyone who is really interested in collecting islanders these may be appropriate for use as an alternative.

I'm not a big fan of the Islanders. However, I'm sure the have there uses but if someone handed me money and said go buy a Lego pirate set, I would defiantly not go buy a Islander set.
