commanderbly42 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 While I don't own any Islanders sets, I really like how they look and do hope that they make an appearance in the new Pirates line sometime. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 While I don't own any Islanders sets, I really like how they look and do hope that they make an appearance in the new Pirates line sometime. Yes. That would be good. I don't know how they would look, but that would be good. Maybe a large cave hide out set? Quote
Gen. Knowledge Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I hope they will use a darker skin tone. I need some Zulus to defeat my army. Tony Quote
Shoc Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I hope they will use a darker skin tone. Nope, we won't get fleshie figs in a non-lincensed theme. :skull: Quote
Monkfish44 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I love the sets! If they do make a reapearance, I don't think LEGO would make islanders race specific, wouldn't be good for buisness... Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I hope they will use a darker skin tone. I need some Zulus to defeat my army.Tony I don't know about Zulus, but I do know a Zuloo that could easily overpower your army. Quote
Thomas B. Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I think they're a disgrace to the pirate theme. They really were a catalyst to end pirates. Quote
purple tornado Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 My humble opinion is that their structures are better then the minifigs. I don't like the look of their hats and feathers , other than that , they are ok. Quote
Legoking Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 It would be awsome to be an Islander Boy. You could live in paradise everyday! Quote
Barbaros Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Not a fan of the Islander sets, sorry! Quote
Duck Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I put "They're alright", because i have mixed views. In terms of design, i love them! I cant think of a single one which was badly designed, and the attention to detail was superb. However, i do feel that they made our pirates too land-based, as they rather sqeezed out the soldiers for a few years, and thus our pirates were all running around dry land being chased by islanders, as there werent really any ships to attack at sea. I would like to see the islanders reappear, but i think its essential for the pirate theme that a soldiers and possibly merchant ship are brought out first, to maintain a bias towards sea-fairing pirates over land ones. Just my two copper. Quote
captian flint lock Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) i voted love them because they were good sets i got a few islanders sets such as enchanted island(as a legand) & crocodile cage (of ebay) i really like the islanders sets flint lock Edited December 17, 2008 by captian flint lock Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Although I have no Islander set in my collection, I like them. Small islands are scattered across the Caribbean and so are the Islanders. I prefer pirates or imperials but the islanders are a nice addition to the pirate themes. Quote
mania3 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I voted that I loved them simply out of sentimentality. The Islander sets were some of the last ones I bought before entering my dark ages and selling all of my sets. Quote
Kaptin_BarfBeerd Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 When I first saw the islander sets I thought they were a bit out of place in the pirate theme. They might be good side story kinda thing for poor Captain Ironhook and it takes a break from the good vs evil cliche which dominates too many Lego themes. Quote
Legoman31 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I will be honest I don't have any of the original pirates' sets but from what I have seen from pics, I would have to say that islanders' sets don't seen very piratey to me. Quote
Eased Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I for one like the islander sets because they have really cool figures (example: King Kahuka ! Also that I like it that TLC made a new lego faction, because the imperials weren't enough to stop the mighty pirates ! Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I don't like the Islander sets... nevertheless I believe it's a good sub theme. The mini-figure I find awesome and they are handy in mocs... Quote
teleri Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 (edited) i love them teleri Edited April 1, 2009 by teleri Quote
Bricks Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I really love the 'Islander sets'! They are such an awesome addition to the Pirate-World. The best are the minifigures, with which you can build great 'Aztecs'-creations 'Bricks' Quote
rjack Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I like very much the enchanted island and that jail with a crocodile :pir-skull: :pir-skull: Quote
captian flint lock Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I LOVE THEM!!! THEY ARE SO COOL WITH ALL THERE SHIELDS AND SPEARS AND THERE AWESOME FACE PAINT.... er hmm ( regains dignity ) I think that they are very good I have enchanted island and crocodile cage Flint lock Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I love the islander's. I have a number of sets. I wish I had them all. I like them for the "unofficial" adventures that can be played out between the islander's and the pirates. The pirates certainly would want to get their grubby hands on the islander loot (as would the imperials) but also from the point of view that the pirates are often in my adventures treaspassing on their remote lands for hidouts, repairs, supply raids, etc. Having them adds a complexity to your story...its not just pirates vs. soldiers all the time. The islander's also provide a different cultural and moral perspective. A soldiers might kill, wound, execute a pirate but would be less likely to say dine on one or feed one to a croc. I think I'll go buy some more....so remember they are terrible nobody else should go looking to buy any. Quote
Ratshot Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 (edited) I like the Islanders a lot. They have detailed outfits and such. I already have the Island Cantarm? I believe it's called that. Edited April 1, 2009 by Broadside Quote
mattb483 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I don't think that the islanders ruined the pirate series! If you ask me the armada troops that took the place of the (redcoat) imperial guards is when I was sad and disappointed about the pirate line, and that's when the line ended as well! Quote
