KAHUKA Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Islanders vs. Pirates. Duhhhhhh.... that's a hard one. Lemmm think...uhhhh.... ;-) ISLANDERS!!!!! :-D Thank you. :-D Quote
Admiral_Jackson Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I think Islanders were the least amusing genre from pirates, but that doesnt mean they weren't a good sub theme. Everything from the Pirates system was awesome! I always liked the islanders for the role they showed in old lego catalogs and magazines.. the third party combatant. In the catalogs they were shown in large numbers, usually wreaking havoc among the pirates and the imperials. At the very least, they can fill in deserted areas on islands, spying the pirates or imperials. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 They're allright, cant start a colony without killing some locals:) Quote
SlyOwl Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I would have given them alright but Enchanted Island made it a Perfect as it's a great parts pack and really cheap on eBay. The islanders are the "heroic" faction - able to do heroic feats and the like to survive whereas pirates and imperials don't need to... Slazza Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 think they are alright, the idea is great. there isnt really a set i like to have and it lasted to short to really judge it. Quote
jedikermit Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I think the Islander theme was okay, but I love the minfigs. I have about forty of them that I've bought up at Bricklink over the years, and can see myself buying more. I have no idea what I'll do with them, but I can't resist 'em! It also helps that they're usually dirt cheap. ;-) Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Voted 'all right'. Although I prefer Imperial Soldiers and Pirates over the Islanders I somehow like them. They are neat minifigs and the sets are pretty cool, although I only own one of the smaller ones. If I were more into Pirates I think I'd have some more of them - but that may come sometime Benny Quote
Fluyt Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) They're allright, they brought a new dimension to the pirate theme, it was just very different from pirates and imperials. And it gave the theme its 6th ,and unfortunately final, faction (if you don't just throw all the pirates (roger/redbeard and ironhook) and the imperials (armada, guards and soldiers) together). Edited May 11, 2008 by Fluyt Quote
Dreamweb Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 They were my least favourite subtheme in the whole Pirate line, but still not bad. I was more into seafaring factions, while the Islanders were - naturally - more stationary. And because of that they didn't have any decent-looking boats. Well, they had the catamaran which didn't look very good IMO. And ships were always the most important thing in the whole Pirate theme for me... Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I like them. Voted the highest vote for them. I have some islanders, but have not made a moc with them. I think they give good diversity to the pirates theme. Quote
Shoc Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I voted that I love them, as I cenrtainly do. All fo the factions of the Pirate theme were great, but Islanders was my favourite. I just have an interest in 'tribal' cultures, that's probably the main reason. :skull: Quote
Inertia Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 My only Pirate sets except for the BSB are Islanders sets, They have awesome structures and printed pieces and were pretty unique. I voted yes for them in the poll, they're a great subtheme. Quote
rriggs Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I really don't have any time for the Islanders. Although, I don't like any Pirate stuff except for the soliders so I was never going to like them anyway! I felt the same when they introduced the Forest sets into the original Castle theme. Cheers Rog Quote
Moose Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I voted that i love them because i do! i remember as a kid them sticking out in the magazine because of the colors and how cool they were. the new hair pieces looked so cool that i had to have them. sadly i only had 6 figures, 4 from double 6256 Islander Catamaran and 2 from double 6246 Crocodile Cage. Crocodile cage remains one of my all time favorite sets because of the hinged roof with spears and my first ever lego crocodile! The only downside was that Kahuka was in every set (except 6246) and that the islanders were all identical (however most tribesmen look nearly identical in real life, i think). Islanders were a great addition to pirates Quote
Gen. Knowledge Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I don't mind the Islanders. If I ever came across a huge lot of 100s for cheap, I would not pass it up. My Imperial Empire like to bring culture, religion, education, and taxes to civilizations that don't use gunpowder. Tony Quote

All up, I have a grnd total of - 0 but I should buy some. I was going to buy Enchanted Island, but I never got around to it. Dammit! Quote
Zorro Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 The Islanders seem to be getting a lot of love considering they were the least popular Pirate sub-theme, but I'm wondering who is voting for them.So come forth Islander lovers and show yourselves! I love the Islanders, When I was young (last year that was, if my balded-Alzheimer infected brain thinks to remember) I often used them as a "third army" to change the outcome of a battle between imperial soldiers and pirates, letting them attack in large groups mostly against the pirates (imperial soldier fan here) as an "alliance of the Viceroy and his governors". I did this because my pirates outnumber my imperials by 2 to 1. I also used to reenact the famous battle of fort whatwhasitcaldagain, where the British ally themselves with the Indians versus the French and trapped them(or was it vice-versa? DAMN ALZHEIMER) I saw that movie several years ago and its a grateful theme for me. I know western indians would be better suited for this, but they are much more expensive and I have none of them. I do have about 40 Islanders however, they are quite cheap in Belgium if you find them. What was I talking about again?? O yes, I was telling you guys about that time I got kidnapped by Al-Qaida, when I did my second round in Vietnam, I know I was following General Knowledges orders to try too assassinate Napoleon too steal his English army, which is the reason I moved to Belgium but then Milosevic showed up and..........................ZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZ *Knor* ZZZZZZZZZ Quote

Hi, I m new to the forum, this is my first post, boy do I pittie that guy named Zorro ! He seems to be missing some braincells or something ! No no, enaugh played now, I own 2 sets of enchanted Island (1 bought new when released, the other through ebay 3years ago - 1 European (6278) and 1 US/re-release?? because different boxes) I made one big island of them combined and then they used their canoes (3 catamarans of which one home-build and some "singles") to land ashore and attack. Too bad they now lie stored in boxes on the attic, I really should get them out the dust, but first my first ship MOC ! I also have King Kahuka's Throne, the Forbidden Cove and 2 catamarans (both bought together with my first island) The other minifigs I bought loose through Ebay and Kapaza, a Belgian 2nd hand site where I bought more than 1 cheap Lego set. Perhaps I could combine both series and build my French frigate ship MOC and let them be manned by my Islanders, whith many cutt-off bluecoat heads; but that seems to be such a waist of their shakos!
