andhe Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) The idea started with trying to give Captain America a dark blue hood, I then thought it would be fun to try and 'castle-ify' my current collection of Superhero figs. I've always liked the 'what if?' type comics, with Batman in the Dark Ages, or Superman in communist Russia etc I love that the characters are so iconic they remain recognisable even with a bit of tweaking. So here is my attempt at transplanting my superhero figs into a more castle/fantasy type setting. The whole gang by andhe :-), on Flickr (I couldn't decide whethet to post in the castle or superhero forum, please move it if you feel it would be better off elsewhere). edit: And my attempt at the Movie Avengers (minus Hulk). Thor was tricky as he is fairly 'castle' already, and on reflection, I think Iron Man should maybe have been a wizard. Castle Avengers by andhe :-), on Flickr Edited August 3, 2012 by andhe Quote
friedchikenfairy Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 They are all very nice, but my favorite has to be Lex Even in medieval times, he wears lavish clothes Quote
Masked Builder Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Those are pretty intresting. Reminds me of some of Oky's crossovers. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 This look great, I specially like Batman Quote
purpleparadox Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) Pretty neat! Reminds me of some of the crossovers Oky makes. EDIT: Haha, looks like Masked Builder said the same thing. Edited July 27, 2012 by purpleparadox Quote
Oky Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Very cool! They all look excellent, except maybe Superman who looks more like Loki with that hair and long staff/maul. I wonder how far one could take this. It would be cool if you could do this with all the other Super Heroes figs. Some will be easy, such as Tony Stark in a red/pearl gold knight's armor, and some will be hard, such as Thor and his brother who are already quite medieval looking. Maybe this could be done for other time periods as well such as Wild West or Pirates! By the way, I think this might belong in the Minifigure Customization Workshop, but we'll see what Cornelius says. Quote
ticktockclock Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 That's an awesome Captain America. Where'd you get the blue hood piece? Quote
The Blue Brick Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Those are great, especially Captain America. Quote
TheLegoJoker Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Lex is totally rockin' that turban. Nice job on these! Quote

The Superman inspiration was a mix of the idea that his powers would be considered as magic, and also the DC Superman character 'Steel' who has a hammer, but yes I guess when people see hammers they think Thor! I had ideas for other heroes, but these are the current figs/flesh heads that I had so will have to wait for the others. If anyone likes the 'What if' type comics, I'd recommend Marvel's 1602, which is uses the well known Avengers/X-Men characters but in Elizabethan England. Great fun. Quote
badboytje88 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 That's a great idea. My fave has to be wonder woman. Quote
Emperor Krulos Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 That Batman looks like a perfect rendition of Joshua Wainwright. Bruce Wayne's Templar ancestor, from the Dark Knight Dynasty - Dark Past comic. I just can't get past Cpt. America. In my head these are supposed to be set in medieval times, which seems a bit of a contradiction. Quote

In my head these are supposed to be set in medieval times, which seems a bit of a contradiction. Thanks, I think Batman is the one who most naturally spans the ages. Contradiction how? Do you mean the name, in that America didn't 'exist'? That's why I've called him the First Avenger :D I have made some slight edits following comments and feedback of my original picture, both on here and flickr. I had wanted to give Superman a beard, hopefully now he looks less Loki, and people didn't like the hammer, so hopefully less like Thor now (though he has ended us with a more similar face/hair combo) thought the staff was more of a stand-in and something I'd like to put a bit more thought into. I think the spear and shield combo is a vast improvement on Wonder Woman. I made and since changed Robin following some suggestions, but think I still prefer him with hair to a hood. I hope to do some more superheroes/villains soon! The Boy Wonder, SuperMage and Wonder Warrior v2 by andhe :-), on Flickr Edited August 1, 2012 by andhe Quote
Scorpiox Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Medieval Superman MK:11 is awesome and hilarious at the same time, I have to make me one like that. The legs/body combo is surprisingly fitting, especially with the belt. Quote

I've now also attempted the Movie Avengers. See edit to first post! Quote
MinifTory Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Played well, they are great ! I agree for iron man who could be some kind of wizzarrior. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Those are really neat to see. I hadn't considered that before. I really like Captain America and Hawk-eye with their hoods. Actually Hawk-eye is my favorite there holding the hawk in his hand. I may have to do something similar to that since I have a few extra Hawk-eyes. And I really like the newer version of Superman with the hair/beard combo. I may have to borrow that idea for someone. Which figures did you get those from? Thanks! Keep up the great work. I will check back often to re-look at them. Quote
purpleparadox Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I love your medieval Avengers. I've gotta agree that Hawkeye holding a hawk is a nice touch. Quote
The-Hulk Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I really like your movie Avengers. Especially Hawkeye! Quote
