Legoroni Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 I meant stickers that are like official stickers. Quote
Darkdragon Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 A thin glossy white label would be closest match to official, but most official stickers are a vinyl type not a paper type. Quote
Omicron Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I always found label paper to be good. Easy to print on, and can be seamless if printed right (look at Saber-Scorpion's stuff), plus it sticks great and it is easy to find and cheap to buy in quantities. -Omi Quote
sologuy369 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) Waterslide decal paper What stores sell this and for what price? Do stores like Walmart or Target sell it? Edited July 26, 2012 by sologuy369 Quote
JopieK Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 It is vinyl and/or polyester (see our site, we have some experience with that ;)). It is difficult to print on the material, especially white on transparent etc. but if you have the right connection or just buy printing press equipment (like we did), you will be fine. Out printer can't mix colors very well, but newer machines are inkjet like (but almost none of the newer ones can print white). Of course cutting the stickers is also a challenge, that is why we have a computer controlled cutter. About water slide decals: they look nice but are better for model railroads than LEGO since they scratch very quickly. Quote
Darkdragon Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 What stores sell this and for what price? Do stores like Walmart or Target sell it? Normally no, you'd need to look online at ebay or micromark. I've had some bad experience with some ebay papers for inkjet, so just be careful. Quote
Legoroni Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 Would this be good? Or should I get the laser version and take it to a printinting shop? Quote
super curry max Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 So a standard printer wouldn't be able to print good looking decals on glossy paper? I was looking to print out some stuff on like printer photo paper and use glue. Would that work somewhat? Quote
Darkdragon Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 In my experiance laser printed looks better for these sorts of fine-line details. Inkjet printers are better for photos and other things with millions of colors. Using photo paper and glue will probably not look good, because that paper will be thicker and with the glue could get messy. You could give it a try though if you have these things at home already. I suggest going with glossy white stickers, make sure to check the "weight" of the paper on the front of the package. Heavier means thicker, thicker means it will not curve well (like if you use it for a head) and it will be more noticeably a sticker when you apply it on any part. Quote
