Aussie BJ Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Hi All This is my first attempt at a MOC. Not quite up to scratch with some of the other marvelous MOCS on here but I think it turned out ok. It had a few manual features including lowering tailgate and lifting side door on the trailer. The slideout on the Motorhome was fitted with power functions M motor and remote which worked ok but not so good when my 7 yo would go full tilt on the remote and gears would skip. Steering was manual and worked pretty good. Also featured 4 pneumatic cylinders for suspension which where linked to a tank and hand pump. Plus small pneumatic on the door opener/closer. Mainly used parts from my Unimog 8110 and Supercar 8070. Just the front wheels and remote where from other models. Website with more photos. Thanks for looking Brendan Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 A very nice first moc.I like the sliding mechanism. Lego make a Technic, Gear 24 Tooth Clutch which will help stop the backlash of the gears/moving-parts when have retracted/extended fully. Quote
rm8 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Huge work! Did you plan to cover the body? Or you just planned to bulid mechanics? Quote
DLuders Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Wow, there are a lot of good things in this Lego Technic Motorhome RV! "Features: - Pneumatic Suspension - Remote PF Slideout - Pneumatic Door Open/Close - Rear Lifting Bonnet - Manual Function Steering - V10 Fake Motor - Approx. 100 hours [work] - Total weight 3.5kg" Quote
timslegos Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Looks pretty cool . If you want to try covering the RV you could try fabric as walls. tim Quote
Meatman Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 This is quite a project! Looking forward to it's progress! Quote
Aussie BJ Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks for all the replies. @Alasdair Ryan I think it had a clutch gear but it just wasn't well supported so hence the gears slipping. I must of built that slide out systems 15 times before it worked properly. In hindsight I should of used a linear actuator but I didn't have any at the time. @rm8 More planned for the mechanics. Which I enjoyed trialing each and every gear and axle combination. I basically ran out of large Technic parts to cover the walls. I was going to pinch my sons 'City" studded pieces to cover them but I moved onto another project and unfortunately the motorhome had to be recycled. Brendan Quote
Phoxtane Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Are you planning to make an amphibious version? Quote
Aussie BJ Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) Are you planning to make an amphibious version? I suppose a dozen sealed air tanks might do the trick! Photo shopped pic surely? Edited July 29, 2012 by Aussie BJ Quote
