mostlytechnic Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) Anyone ever taken apart one of the old 9V battery boxes: I've got a red one in the Airport Shuttle monorail set that is very flaky. It only works sometimes - there's definite corrosion on the one terminal inside, but I've scraped it off well and it still doesn't always work. Since these are VERY rare with the monorail stickers on them, I'd rather not destroy it trying to fix it. My guess is there's something wonky in the actual switch mechanism but I'm not sure. le60head Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 it's fairly easy to disassemble the battery box for cleaning. I remember there was already such a topic in eurobricks. Could you try to look for it? If not' i can attach photos on how to disassemble it here. Quote

Seriously leave the corroded terminals in coke for about one hour and rinse. Possibly use a cotton wool bud to help removal. Corrosion might also have got into the switch. Just don't let the coke evaporate and get sticky. Quote
