jFox Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I ordered a couple of centaur pieces from BrickForge, and must say they're pretty darned cool. Here's what I've done with them. First, a centaur courser. I'm using the CMF Gladiator's torso and head, and the Highland Battler hairpiece. A fierce warrior, he wields an elven spear and hero sword from Brickforge, which I've painted: I'm really happy with the way the sword turned out. The detail of BrickForge (and BrickWarriors) weapons is fantastic, just begging to be painted. A little bit of tape, a little bit of spray paint, and voila! Next up, the centaur stormer. The flowing pattern, and the feathered pouch on the right side made me think this would be some sort of shaman, medicine man... err, horse-person. I've used the BrickWarriors wizard staff topped with a gem, and a pinky ponytail piece from BrickWarriors (would have liked it to be paler, like the centaur body). I may try to paint the base of the ponytail. Maybe silver or gold, like a ring or bracelet around the hair. The torso is from the CMF Cave Woman, and the head is from the bounty hunter in Star Wars: Episode II, Zam Wesell. The head has dual-printing with a changeling/alien face on the back. I read somewhere that toothpaste could brush off printing. Sure enough, some toothpaste and a little elbow grease and it was gone. The shoulder pauldron is from someone on eBay who makes custom cloth accessories. Custom Pauldrons Both of them together, ready to take on anything! Thanks for looking, comments and critiques welcome. Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Those look pretty cool! Really nice job on the painting, and as you said, I say you paint the base of the pink hair to make it look like a ring holding it up like that Quote
jFox Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 Some new centaurs, and some changes to the stormer. First, I painted the ring at the base of the hair. I also tried a different torso, colored yellow with Sharpie: Picked up the Charger body as well, and gave him some BrickWarriors gear: Lastly, the Destrider. The over-the-top bladed helm goes nicely with the large horse body I think: Now, if only they could rear up like the new horses... Quote
andhe Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Your painting is amazing. At first I didn't even notice it, until I remembered what the original pieces look like. The hair/ponytail on the charger is especially impressive and neat. Didn't know the trick about toothpaste rubbing off print, not that I'm about to try it. The parts you've used work really well, and as for the rearing up... I guess TLG have to stay one step ahead of the game somehow! (Now if they'd have only given us some purist centaurs...). purpleparadox Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I'm really loving this second batch of Centaurs. Your painting is, once again, perfect. And you seem to have a knack for making the best piece combinations! Let's see a war between your Dwarves and Centaurs. Quote
