Just like the title says I've got around 60 empty packets from each serires up to 7 that are cut open at the top.

I also have a box from series 4-7.

Now I'm not trying to sell them here, but I'm wondering does anyone else save these? Has anyone ever sold them, does anyone even care about them?

They are starting to take up space and I was thinking of tossing them, then I thought to myself, maybe I could sell them.

I saved my packets from S1 and S2, but I ended up throwing them away since they just left a mess. I doubt they'd be worth anything, but some people like to hold onto their boxes and polybags just for their collection's sake.

Never! I would always throw them away. I mean really, why keep empty packets? Although I do have some boxes. I would keep them when possible. (Well you can't always have them!)

Saving empty packets? HAH! Maybe if I could pkzip them :D

All I keep is a few of the papers from the packets per series, but the rest -> /dev/null

There are occasionally people looking for the boxes, but I've never heard of anybody wanting packets.

I have several boxes (I buy a whole box now, I'm too old and crotchety to feel up packs for hours at a time); I like to have two sets - one opened on display and one closed for whatever in the future (grand kids?), and then I need extras of all the ones I want to make MOCs with, so it just makes sense to buy the box.

The old boxes are storing the closed sets.

That's kind of what I thought. I'm not entirely sure why I saved the packets. I usually opened them all at work and before I bought seald boxes I'd have them all in a grocery bag, so when I'd open one on my desk, I moved the empty packet to the bag they were in. I actually have all packets from all series in one grocery bag.

I would just throw them all out, save for one from each series that is in the best condition.

I've been keeping empty packets too, as well as the paper inserts. I've been asking myself the same question about why I'm keeping the things.

Same here. I just don't like throwing away anything LEGO. Kept the polybags and used sticker sheets in the boxes, kept the one-page advertisements with the boxes they shipped in, kept the bags from the LEGO Stores and LEGOLAND (back when they used different bags), kept the cardboard envelops that the strings come in, kept the sprues the tools come on, kept all the clips I've broken...

Boxes are rare, and I guess some people might like them.

Packets are very common and the original product was not expensive to begin with. I don't think anyone really needs empty packets and the sort of people that do, probably already have a bunch of them. I'd just recycle them.

Big Cam, the CMF boxes are 'valuable' in some sense especially if you have them from S1 to S7, like the one below.

And, yes it does take quite abit of space and I also have problem storing it and wanting to dispose my spare boxes which I did. Ended up, I made an effort to keep at least one box of each series as I find these CMF boxes a good unique way to see how the CMF packets are kept.

I also kept some of the opened packets but versus opened packets, I will rather you keep them 'sealed', and it look far more better than opened packets. No one really want to have those opened packets so I could safely assume it can be thrown since I treat it more like plastic wrappers.

Keep some of the sealed ones from each series. It is much better and much meaningful.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I might be interested in just getting a Series 1 insert - I have at least one minifig from each series except the first, and though I've thrown out most of the packets without a second thought, I've saved one of the paper inserts for each series.

...I don't know why (sentimental reason?)... but I do keep all the boxes and all opened packets from S1 to the present... true, it take up space but I make a point to make space for such boxes... I don't believe there is any value to it but who knows... in 10 or so years from now...

And I thought I was the only one.

But I have every CMF box other than Series 1 since they were VERY limited in Canada. I've kept every single minifig pack and pamphlet for each CMF I own.

So yea, does that mean I am a LEGO hoarder?

I don't have enough space to save all my LEGO boxes and such, but I do try to save certain ones, and this includes any sort of small, baggie-like thing like polybags and the Minifigures packets, simply because they're small (and flat) enough to take up very little space. I don't intend to hang onto to all of the ones I currently have forever, but I do want to save at least a representative few from each series (perhaps keeping enough of the S1 and S2 ones to have at least one packet for each unique barcode), just for kicks.

I actually do like to keep a bunch of unopened Minifigures around, myself, although I do play to open them all eventually. I try to get at least two of each minifigure from the line, plus additional duplicates of whichever figures I feel I can use more of; after opening and putting together a large set including those, I leave some packets unopened so that from time to time, I can just dip into the assortment and pull out another one or two to open. I of course know which series I'm getting, but not necessarily which figure - I cherry-pick them when I buy them, specifically getting those I want extras of, but I try to let myself forget exactly which ones I have more of and how many, so that when I open a fresh S5 packet, say, I'm not sure if it's a graduate or a palace guard or whatever. I currently have anywhere from 4 to 22 uponened packets apiece from each of the first six series (I'm still working on putting together my intial set of S7, so I don't have a bunch of extra unopened ones yet, but I plan to continue doing this with S7 and beyond).

Yes I do this to I keep one or two sealed from every series.

On another note I do keep my packets, you would think since a box with a set raises value. Why won;t a minifigure with its packet do the same. Those are my thoughts.

I'd be interested in the sheet from series 1 if you have any of those, I have one from all the other series but threw my last series 1 sheet away thinking I had another filed away :cry_sad:

If you ask me, it would be a better Idea just to slit them along the back - that way you get the minifigure and don't ruin the bag.

And my guess is that the bags really wouldn't be worth anything!

Yeah, if your planning on selling some minifigs in the future they might come in handy. But I'd sayt hat other than that, there's not much point to keeping them
