SheepEater Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) Man, I remember watching the Sylvester Stallone movie when I was a teen This time, Judge Dredd will be played by this guy. Don't expect a Lego license. And don't expect him to take his helmet off - Sly did, and fans of the comics complained about it for a decade. Edited July 14, 2012 by SheepEater Quote
Praiter Yed Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) I wasn't allowed comics as a kid but somebody bought me a 2000AD Annual one Christmas and I read it over and over again - so I've been really excited about this movie, especially as the Sly Stallone one was so awful. I have to admit I'm not really impressed with the trailer, but on the other hand, I have read some great reviews (Rotten Tomatoes currently at 100% positive ) and Karl Urban is a good actor so fingers crossed EDIT: In depth review here. into the blue Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I grew up reading 2000ad, so I'm really looking forward to this movie. The Stallone version is often sneered at, but it had its moments (the Angel gang, Hammerstein, the Chief Judge's long walk, the score). I attended the 2000ad panel at the SDCC and was pleasantly surprised when Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby showed up unexpectedly. He's a longtime Dredd fan and had a lot of input into the movie (one of the main reasons he took the part was the fact that Dredd wouldn't take his helmet off). The trailer looks good (even if Mega-City 1 doesn't look very Mega-City 1-ish). Fingers crossed. Quote
SheepEater Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 I'm crossing my fingers the song "I am the law" from Anthrax, (from their best album, 1987's Among the Living) will make it into the movie soundtrack this time. Quote
