CorneliusMurdock Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 This is what I took to display at Brickworld this year. I finally got the time to reassemble and photograph it to share here. Pardon any dust, please. Inspiration has come from many places so it's hard to remember everything. I do remember the pew design is slightly modified from what I saw in SavatheAggie's cathedral. Figs representing my wife and I hold hands in front of the church. Inside, a wedding is taking place. Priest torso (sticker) and wine bottle are from Brickforge. For the priest's robe, I traced the Graduate's robe onto white paper and trimmed it a little. A bored child starts playing with his remote-controlled car, much to his mother's chagrin. Wedding guests. Within the bell tower is a loft overlooking the church with the pipe organ. Guitar by Brickforge. Pipe organ. Tabernacle. I'm very happy with how this turned out with such a lack of variety in gold parts. Shrine to Mary with customized Mary statue. More pictures on Flickr. Quote
Darkdragon Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Excellent work. I love all the little details you put into it. Thank you for taking separate shots of each of the detail items! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 AWESOME work 'CorneliusMurdock', that kid might get into trouble with his RC car eh ? And isn't handy to have some LOTR sets at hand or on hand so to speak ? Beautiful church and they do make a lovely couple......but dude get out now, ball and chain dude trust me 15 years so far for me and you end up an AFOL ! Brick On 'CorneliusMurdock' ! Quote
The Blue Brick Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Great church MOC 'CorneliusMurdock.' I love the interior, and also great use of the new LOTR ring. It works perfectly. Quote
purpleparadox Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 That's a beautiful church! I love all of the flowers outside and the detailing on the roof. The priest's robe is excellent! Awesome idea. And the pipe organ is incredible. Overall, amazing work. Thanks for sharing. Quote
wooootles Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) I had the honor of sitting my stuff next to CorneliusMurdock's chapel last month at Brickworld. It's amazing in real life and took a bunch of pictures. I'm a bit crap at roof building so I took more pictures of the roof Good job! Edited July 14, 2012 by wooootles Quote
Dakar A Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 This is really great, I like how it is on a brick base, instead of a baseplate. And, at first, I though that this was the church from "Rocky Horror Picture Show"! Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 The tabernacle is my favorite part. really really cool. Quote
Ricecracker Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Really lovely, CM! I saw it at Brickworld but didn't know it was yours. Thankfully, Simon let me know post-Brickworld. Quote

With MOCs as spectacular as yours, who even notices roofs? Quote
LegoJalex Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Beautiful church! Perfect in size and a lot of interesting details. I like how you made the glass windows. Quote
L@go Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 This is lovely. The exterior is beautifully done (and that roof really is something special), but the detailing on the interior is spectacular. The pipe organ is an obvious highlight, but that little pulpit with a tiny microphone is great. This struck a special note with me today, as I just got back from one of my best friends' wedding :) Oh, and the name: Immaculate Connection. Haha! This is really great, I like how it is on a brick base, instead of a baseplate. But there are baseplates underneath, aren't there? Quote

Thanks, the pulpit (or ambo) went through several designs before I got it the way I wanted it. At first I was really wishing that Lego made a 2x3 tile that I could have used for the front but I've grown fond of the odd way in which the front tile is divided. The altar ended up an odd width as well. Most of that was because I neglected to design the interior until after I had pretty much finalized the outside of the building. It was a challenge to get everything to fit without looking too crowded. I actually added the little sanctuary to the back at that point because there was no room for the tabernacle otherwise. I should take some separate pictures of the pulpit and altar things if I get a chance. I don't think I've taken them apart yet. Yes, the very bottom is two large baseplates. Besides needing a solid base, I raised it up so that it could be taken apart for ease of transport. The church itself actually sits on tiles and lifts right out. Then the two plates are held together by two technic pins which can be easily separated. Quote
sonicstarlight Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Great little church. The exterior detailing is restrained, but not overly simplified. The interiors really shine, though, and I love that you've taken photos of all the elements separately so that we can see them better. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Really cool church, you managed to fit a lot of detail in there. Quote
The Dutch Guy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Haleluja and Amen. What a great effort on your part. The church looks great. Love the flowers next to the building. The inside is great to. Great work on the ornaments. I like the robe best. Would look great in any town. Quote
