legofreak86 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) That game looks amazing! Hope this is the signal we get the F4 maybe in the winter range! Comic based sets Disney are well within rights to make. Heck they could just say we are basing them off our own videogame! Hopefully they will reveal them figures at comic con in a few days for the winter line! Edited July 11, 2013 by legofreak86 Quote
Cammo Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) Maybe that's the reason they released a Red transparant Lego Minifigure head in the Lord of the Ring sets. They can use it again on The Torch. Man, I still have to get the Hulk-set. Is that set retiring soon btw (along with the Xmen set)? It's just too expensive... I actually only need him and Thor. Hopefully The Hulk will be released in this winter wave so I can skip the Avengers' set. Edited July 11, 2013 by Cammo Quote

I could never justify spending £50 on just the hulk as all the other figures are obtainable through other sets and I had and the set itself is to simple for £50. I might just have to get him off eBay for about £20-£25 unless Lego release him in a set next year! Quote

Maybe Transparent orange but that's been around for ages, I remember seeing them in 2001 sets. Personally I don't think the Toirch should be transparent as he isn't in the comics. Quote

Yeah I've always seen it as he's more engulfed in flames as opposed to actually just becoming entirely made of fire, despite the name Human Torch. With that said, I would expect Torch to be more like those Ninjago NRG guys that were released last year. Quote

F4 uniform torso with orange colour on the whole figure with fire details and a double sided head also use same hair as the videogame one but in orange. if they wanted to be super accurate they could include both normal and fire ones in the same set. I reckon the stretch of Mr fantastic will have to rely on imagination as I doubt they will do a stretched out version! he'll also have a two toned hairpiece judging by the poster. Quote

I can't wait to pick up one of those sets, if they are included. It would be great to get some new figures instead of rehashes. Are you all forgetting Rule One of LEGO games? They are never produced to announce something that will be released later. I am still waiting for that Nien Numb and when they finally released Kit Fisto he had this stupid rubber head instead of his tentacle wig. Especially with how Human Torch couldn´t look like in the game because transparent figs still aren´t able to be produced (and a mix and match out of red and trans.red pieces would look bad) and how they never put Chrome figs in sets which cancels out the Surfer. Designs are always too different from what actually gets released if it gets released at all. Also, them being on the cover means nothing. LEGO Indiana Jones had Belloq, Mola Ram and Short Round and LOTR had Ringwraith with armor, that girl knight, different kinds of soldiers, Nazgul and war elephants, all without releases. Of course! LEGO would love to get more return on their investment in making the Hulk mold. I don´t know how they molded him exactly but I assume Hulk has a huge, non LEGOy hole in his head so they can put on that wig in a way that it is not removable, which makes the mold only useable for Hulk and Red Hulk (and for Red they would still need another hair mold). Maybe that's the reason they released a Red transparant Lego Minifigure head in the Lord of the Ring sets. They can use it again on The Torch. Man, I still have to get the Hulk-set. Even if he isn´t released in the winter wave and there is no Hulk 2 on the to-do-list of the MCU filmmakers, he will stay in the Avengers movies at the very least which guarantees us a release of the fig in a different (and most certainly better) set in two years at most. Don´t go and give LEGO money for this blatant rip-off set, just wait another year or two and you can buy him with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch or whoever new heroes he punches aliens in the face with in the next Avengers film. Their first appearances were in the video games and those designs were their fig designs. If TLG has already created the design for a minifig, then the game will reflect that design. If not, the game developers will create their own design. Character designs in video games MIGHT be what we get or they might not. The fun is the speculation. I personally don't care for the Fantastic Four but I wish those fans the best and that they get the minifigs that they want. Quote

No I know that 'rule'. I was just assuming as they would want to expand their marvel universe with some comic based sets. They most likely would take this path as they only have two big popular character mcu movies. Which means it could play out like this: November/December 2013: Thor the dark world sets. I would estimate at least 1. Winter wave: 1 more ultimate spider man set, maybe one or two comic based sets. March-April 3 captain America 2 sets. That is all the movie based sets we are likely to get unless Sony did sign over the merch rights to marvel like it was reported they did if so that means maybe Amazing Spiderman 2 sets. the likelihood of gotg sets is very low as they don't have the same exposure to kids that the avengers and other mainstream marvel heroes do. The F4 and silver surfer on the other hand could happen as they are really popular marvel characters that frequently guest star in marvel television shows and animated movies. The chrome thing is a minor problem. As it is a one off for an immensely popular character, Lego may feel the need to do a chrome surfer. We had already discussed that an orange fire printed torch would work way better than a see through one. It could have both black outline of the uniform printing and the details of being on fire.P.S: Mola ram was released in 2009 in the second wave as was short round. Beloq was in the first wave anyway. He's also my only Avenger missing as I still cannot justify getting the Helicarrier set for 60€ or paying 30€ on Ebay. And I also think he's going to be available in a better set in a couple of years. In the meantime I will create a Bruce Banner minifig. But after seeing the Thing macrofig, boy I'd take one of those anytime over the Hulk! Quote
The Joker1 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I agree the set is way overpriced but I have seen it hundred of times on sale or £40 or sometimes less, I was not going to get the set originally so i did a trade to get big hulk and then got the set on sale. So now I have two hulks . Don't want to go away from the point but if you do want one my big hulk is for sale Anyway hopefully we will see another hulk one day, Maybe even a purple panted one? Quote

They're in the same outfit, just set designers and game designers think differently. (btw, why didn't they update Shorty for IJ 2?) But for the most part, Navy Trooper Fenson's right. We all know LEGO plans far, far ahead so if they minifigs were coming out shortly after (the Pearl with Davy and Bill came out about 6 mon. after the game), they could use the designs. Now IJ the game and the Temple of Doom set were about 1 year apart. Quote

We had already discussed that an orange fire printed torch would work way better than a see through one. It could have both black outline of the uniform printing and the details of being on fire. That would be a very cool representation of Human Torch and his powers. I still think I would prefer to have him in his regular uniform though. I don't think both versions would appear in one set, as I can't think of a set, except for the DS, where multiple versions of the same character appeared in one set. For Mr. Fantastic & Invisible Woman, them in their normal uniforms would be the most logical solution. Although Invisible Woman as a trans clear minifig would be ideal, the feasibility of that is questionable though. I think a possible compromise could be a light blue/grey color like this custom Force Ghost Yoda by Kaminoan. Silver Surfer being chrome I think TLG might do in a set as a compromise as well since he is a popular character. Pearl silver or light grey wouldn't look right. We will find out soon enough if we are getting the F4 with SDCC starting next week. Quote

Vindicare Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 They could make an arm and a leg trans clear for Sue, although...they haven't made trans hands have they? That could be a nice compromise, like she's starting to transform. Quote
montgocloud Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Personally, with the way the Marvel lisence has been going, I find it much more likely for "Ability-to-be-Invisible Person" and "Rock Monster" minifigs from Arrested Development to be released. But in all seriousness, I do find Fantastic Four sets far fetched since there aren't any telivision shows or movies starring them yet. The biggest production they've been in within the past couple of years is the new LEGO Marvel game. We might see a set released around the time of the movie though, since the team will then be in the spotlight. Quote
eldiano Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 It's like Wonder Woman's Invisible plane prototype, it's like half and half, I wouldn't be surprised if the invisible woman turns out to be part of SDCC limited edition minifig. Quote

The polycarbonate is too brittle for the flex needed to grab things and they would break much too easily. Quote

As brave and the bold was cancelled in 2011. Yet he still got a full wave of sets based on comic book appearances! Kids know the F4 anyway and they are constantly guest starring in other marvel animated and videogame media. The point is Lego make up their own scenarios and put in characters that are most popular apart from the movie sets which are based off the films. The F4 are really popular with kids. There hasn't been media about them for years but I still see kids playing with their action figures and wearing their emblems on their t-shirts. Plus when I went to the states last we went to marvel island at universal and the F4 were there with kids for photo ops and riding motorcycles right up there with wolverine cap and Spiderman. The queue for the F4 was so long that it put some people off queuing up! The point is Lego can still make comic based sets considering they only have two big mcu movies in the next year Thro and cap. I doubt guardians of the galaxy will get many sets maybe 1 if marvel want one but I'm pretty sure not many kids have even heard of gotg unless they watched that one off episode of emh. What I'm saying is with only cap in the 2014 line they will have to make their own scenario comic sets and maybe some ultimate Spiderman. I would estimate if there are going to be thor 2 sets they would be released November- December 2013 to publicise the film's release. Edited July 12, 2013 by legofreak86 Quote
