During my excellent summer vacation, I made a stop at a layout in Niagara Falls (on Clifton Hill) called Brick City. Over half a million bricks, and all one man's personal collection, and it's got something for everyone! To give a quick list:

-MOCs, from mosaics to sculptures, skyscrapers, to rock concerts to landmarks (including Niagara Falls and the CN Tower)

-Sets on display; Modulars, and SW ships hanging from the roof

-Areas for little ones to play and build

-I Spy details like Spidey swinging on a building

-Train and ship layouts

There's a lot more, but I'm starting to sound more like an advertiser than a visitor! Here's a link for now, and I'll deeplink some pictures soon.

Brick City!

Quite interesting for being all just ONE guys collection. I've dreamed of having a large permanent public display. How big is the building it's housed in, or is it part of his home? Is it free for everyone? I'm really intrigued to know someone had the same idea and passion to actually do this default_classic.gif

The building's not huge...a bit bigger than a store in a mall. It's not part of his house. It'd be great if it were free, but it's not, which is awesome at the same time because he's making money from his hobby and passion! Admission is cheap though, something in the $6-8 range I think. :classic:

I was there a year ago and took quite a lot of pictures:

I didn't have a great camera back then :( and Niagara Fall is about 6 hours drive from me, a bit expensive trip just to get better pictures.

Sounds really nice, something not to hard to manage. The price is right there on par with the Bellaire Toy & Plastic Brick Museum in Ohio. I reckon it would be quite necessary to charge. Have there been numerous people there while you guys took the tour or just a few people/families passing through? default_classic.gif

That museum in Ohio seems interesting! While my family and I were at Brick City, I'd say about 3 other families were visiting. And I heard that that particular day had been a slow one. So, I don't think it'd be too hard to regain some money with an attraction like this. :classic: They also had a small Lego shop in there but the selection wasn't amazing and everything had an almost 50% markup!

I'd love to see either. I've never been to one, but I frequent Ohio a few times a year to see family. It's a bit out of my way so it's on my list of "things to do". I guess you'll have your slow days, but that 50% markup is crazy. default_huh.gif I'm just happy that there is potential in running something like this. Seems like he's been there a little while default_classic.gif
