Hello. I have just signed up to Eurobricks after reading some topics here on and off for a few weeks. Its a great website for info on new Lego sets and MOCs. Loving the reviews as well *y* My main Lego interest is town but I also like Western, Star Wars and Adventures and would like to start collecting trains when I have the space and money to expand my town.

One thing I am thinking of at the moment is creating an offshore oil rig and tanker to go with my town but I am struggling to find inspiration on where to start. I have tried brickshelf and google but to no avail so far. Does anyone know of any sites where I can find pictures or instructions for oil rigs that other people have made so I have a starting point to work with.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Think I am going to start getting the parts together for something like the one oo7 suggested. Love the first picture of Asuka's but it is a wee bit big for minifig scale. Would dwarf my whole collection by quite a bit!

The first picture you can see there, is from LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark.

I can see it's an old picture, because it's labeled with Octan.

It's now Statoil.. :-( It's a shame to sacrify something like Octan, just for a wee bit of money. :-( Just like the Driving School.. Oh! The pain! :'-(

Actually, the 2007 petrol station is Octan...

JSN, if you're still out there, somehere, here's another oil rig for you.

Sorry if it is a little big. The picture that is, not the MOC. Although that's pretty big too.

I've been wanting to build an offshore rig for some time. The pictures in these forums are good, but nothing at the true balance of minifig scale and detail that I want. However, they have inspired me, I'm going to start designing one in MLCad now.

Still here oo7 but have been without internet access for a while. That is another amazing oilrig but a bit big for what I was planning. I am thinking along the lines of what section8 was saying about trying to strike the balance between detail and minifig scale. Will use the pics posted so far for ideas though but it will have to wait for the moment. Have had to move away for a new job and leave the Lego behind but once I have some money I may buying some parts and make a first attempt.
