Hammerstein NWC Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 feedback most welcome The Hammertech Dominator - a lunar explorer mech - repurposed for the lunar conflict which saw the outbreak of Space War 1 with the Blacktron invasion force. Quote
TenorPenny Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Some delightful touches and a great colour scheme..! Quote
DraikNova Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Perfect amount of complexity and greebles and good job of making it look old-school! Kinda makes me think "ghostbusters" for some reason. Quote
BrickPicker Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I like the color scheme and the use of the teeth for ribs. Quote
Blacktron Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) I love that design. Who would have thought that these peaceful looking, smiling Classic Astronauts would construct such modern and powerful robots? Blacktron should watch out...^^ Clever parts use and very cool details. DraikNova Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Seems kinda like a Space Police mech. I guess even the Classic Faction (as I've begun calling these astronauts) are upgrading. And in a big way. Quote
Hammerstein NWC Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Seems kinda like a Space Police mech. I guess even the Classic Faction (as I've begun calling these astronauts) are upgrading. And in a big way. It does look a bit more space policeey than I'd like really I needed more grey and blue but I only had these colours. Originally it was all white but it was very very boring. I would like to have reversed the colour ways on the tops of the legs, with blue roof panels and the 1x3 slopes under the chin should also have been blue and that's just for a start. Overall though I'm happy with how the design turned out - those police motorbikes were a real pain to incorporate and still keep stability and posability! Quote
DraikNova Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Well, now that you mentioned it, the grey and blue stand out more. It's an awesome mech. With a gun-shield. And a katana-claymore. Quote
Si-MOCs Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Where to start? I love this Nice and balanced, some nice little CS touches. Great piece usage - particularly the head and the rib cage (looks awesome) and all the random greebles in the back Though given the huge sword, the sheild looks a bit puny no? Still awesome build! Hammerstein NWC Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) There seems to be some confusion about the arm cannon. I have posted another picture to clarify. The "shield" part is actually a radar dish skeleton, it's a remnant of the pre-war build. In my story I imagined that the arm was repurposed quite quickly and certain elements of the mech were best left in to save build time in a war situation. --------- I built a sword shield combo independent of the mech and then used the katana because I liked it so much last minute - in another variant it had a powermaul which was more in keeping with the colour scheme (light grey). I was kinda iffy about putting a close comabt weapon and gun on it but I had already put a lot of effort into the cannon arm so I went with it anyhoo. the shield is built - tonight I will build out the the other arm and post a picture of it as I think it's worth a look. As always thanks for the positive feedback and constructive criticism! :) SCI-FI has become my home here at Eurobricks!! Edited July 11, 2012 by Hammerstein NWC Quote
DraikNova Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 You're making a new arm design? Can't wait! Quote
Si-MOCs Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Opps. My misakte, I simply assumed it was a sheild because of the sword Though I agree, the sword is really nice, especially the counterbalance. I look forward to your update! Quote
