rongYIREN Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Built this for the ReBrick Challenge. My idea started out as simply a mechanical octopus but then I thought it might be cool to include an aquanaut, and thus this tentacled submersible mecha was born. And of course no Aquapod is complete without a suitable deep-water environment... including odd looking eel. Hope you enjoy. Any critiques would be welcome. Thanks! Flickr link... Quote
Multiverse Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Oh, that's brilliant! I love the dynamic feel to the whole thing, particularly in the eel. Whatever that tan thing (plant? Rock formation?) is, I'm really stunned by that, too. It's so simple, yet so well placed. Quote

The "tan thing" was envisioned as some type of aquatic plant life, but was actually inspired by the background images from a particular level in Super Mario Bros. 2 Quote
DraikNova Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Epic work here. Seems like an aquatic version of lego's MBA 1# set. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Nicely done! The mecha is very nice but the eel and land water-scape are my favorite parts Very nice entry Quote
Si-MOCs Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I saw the when you posted this earlier on flickr... It was awesome then and awesomer now! Octomechs are the way to go! /highfive The new background is great! It almost takes too much attention from the mech. The eel is awesome. As is the photoshop work showing the different profiles! Great work and good luck! Quote
charlieboy Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 This is one of those absolutely amazing moc's that i'd immediately rush out and buy had Lego made it! The whole design is fantastic and as such i'm going to shamelessly steal some ideas from it and go make something similar! Hope you dont mind Quote
Vindicare Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 That is great! The way you presented it was very fun. The layout and build of everything is top notch. The Aquapod is very clever and fun looking. Nice color combo. Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Excellent! The background details are superb. Quote
Algernon Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Now that is an attractive model. I really love the smooth, solid look to everything. It almost doesn't even look like LEGO at first glance. Superb. Quote
rongYIREN Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks to everyone who stopped by to take a look at the MOC and even more to those who left comments, I appreciate it! rongYIREN Quote
rongYIREN Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Awesome MOC, good luck in the contest! Ha ha, luck is something I'm going to need a lot of. I'm getting crushed in that contest with only 6 votes and one of those votes is my own. But Thanks, I really appreciate it! Quote
DraikNova Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I really like this colorscheme. I've even built robot space penguins in lime and white! Quote
rongYIREN Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 I really like this colorscheme. I've even built robot space penguins in lime and white! Robot Space Penguin!? Now that I'd like to see. Quote
DraikNova Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Well, I was fooling around to see what I could do with the leftover parts from my disassembled upgraded version of the Monster Dino (I believe that's the right name)set, and there were a lot of teeth pieces and a couple of lime cheese slopes, so...I made a theme about robot penguins living in an underground factory, which ironically is situated close to the North Pole.
