CopMike Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Hi all! The question have been raised if the IR-Receiver marked V2 is indeed a new model? And if it is, how is it different from the previous versions? Below are some info from Ambassador Jetro de Château that I think you´ll appriciate ! We have since received an explanation through a different channel: an interview with Gaute Munch, the Product Manager for LEGO Power Functions. To sum up we now have the following PF IR-Receivers: Element ID 4506085 - Original hardware, with RC Protocol firmware version 1.00 (released in 2007). Element ID 4566756 - Original hardware, with RC Protocol firmware version 1.20 (released in 2010). Distinguishes by: LED double blink on startup. 4566735 is the element ID for the corresponding set (8884-1) sold separately. Element ID 6020086 - Second hardware, with RC Protocol firmware version 1.20 (released in 2012). Hardware modifications: New CMOS motor driver with lower power loss. Distinguishes by: LED also blinks twice on startup and "V2" printed label on the front. You can read the whole interview here. Quote

Yes it is indeed valueable to know, but I do wonder what he(Gaute Munch) think are different need and requirments between nxt and pf. Because I have my own idea that they choose the rj11 plug, simply to make it easier for other companies to make stuff that fit in the system. And at the cost that they dont care as much about the plug fitting into the lego system, e.g. think about the old 9v system and the current pf, where there are some studs one them. And I can't se the difference between nxt and pf, because lego already carries sensor information over the pf wire in the wedo sets. Are there anybody that has gotten a clue?
