Nimdian Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Hi there everyone. This is a Roman Ballista made by technic elements for a local competition in TurkLUG. Not much about to say about :) Hope you like it. Don't miss the video: For more: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nimdian/sets/72157630223072020/ http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/329090 Cheers Nim Quote
Sariel Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Soft axles aren't the way to go, they are way too soft as you have noticed. You could try regular axles instead, working like torsion bars. Tension would be much higher and you would have to reinforce the whole thing well, but I'm sure it would shoot better. Quote

But I tried to copy what Romans did in real. They used ropes(?) to create tension power in their ballistas. Soft axles were the nearest choise I have in my inventory. The idea was to copy and demonstrate how the weapon worked not actually use it :P Thanks for your opinion :) Quote
SheepEater Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Would be a great weapon to give to the Orcs in a lord of the rings siege battle! Quote

timslegos Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Very nice concept MOC. Could it fire small 1x4x1 bricks? Or 2x2 bricks? tim Quote

Better not to be too accurate here :) Better choose to be purist here instead of put my hands in "dirt" :P Very nice concept MOC. Could it fire small 1x4x1 bricks? Or 2x2 bricks? tim Well it fires NXT spheres mostly, to a few feets away. And thanks! :) Quote
