Superkalle Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I just installed LDD on a friends new computer and got some weird results. Has anyone had a similar problem with the bricks being displayed like this? The graphics chip is an Intel HD3000. Quote

Has anyone had a similar problem with the bricks being displayed like this? The graphics chip is an Intel HD3000. Looks like that melting clock painting to me. Have the correct video driver installed? It's possible if Windows installed a generic VGA driver, everything looks ugly and with very poor 3D video speed. HD3000 should be able to handle 3D video from LDD without a problem. Mine does 3D Blu-Ray without a problem. Quote
Calabar Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 What is the OS? I've similar problems (but not with LDD) with a HD2500 and Win8 CP (beta drivers for intel cards are very immature yet). The problems happens every time you use LDD or under particular conditions? (for example after you resumed the PC from an hibernation). Anyway graphic drivers for intel gpu are not the "state of the art", even if in many cases could be adequate. Quote
Superkalle Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 OS is WinXP 32-bit. Computer is a new Dell Latitude with latest drivers from Dell. With edge outlines turned off, the image displays correctly. I was mostly wondering if someone had seen the same type of artifacts. I mean - either the GPU supports the edge outlines function, or it doesn't. Here is something in between causing a corrupt image Quote

Here is something in between causing a corrupt image Video drivers are notorious for lying about what they do or do not support, Windows actually performs a bunch of tests to catch out lying drivers in a whole raft of situations, but that's by no means a guarantee. A HD3000 should be perfectly capable, but it's possible the drivers on Dell's site aren't actually the latest available - generic drivers might be available from Intel, but you never quite know whether they might cause other issues. If newer ones are available I'd suggest contacting Dell support about the issue, they might well be able to advise better. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I had a similar problem when I installed LDD on two separate computers running Windows XP. It worked fine on the same computer when upgraded to Windows 7. Just for the record though, I can also only run SR 3D Builder on Windows 7, although I think it is supposed to be useable on XP as well. Quote

Yeah, I should perhaps find some more updated drivers at Intels support site. It's just that Dell is such a major supplier and Intel HD3000 such a common chip, that I was surprised it didn't work.
