brickie Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) When the Kingdoms' Joust set was released, I was impressed by the images on the box and set about making a moving joust. I 'copied' the graphic on the front of the box complete with strings, motor and gears. The Mk 1 version worked but I was told that it was completely wrong as the knights were on the wrong sides and had their shields in the wrong hands. A little research soon showed the errors of my ways [ and the lego box ]. After much trial and error, the final version was shown at the Brisbane Model Train Show in May. MCNwakeboard Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Very cool! Does the green knight always win? Would be great if you can post larger pictures of the castle. Quote

Thanks for the kind words; and also 'soccerkid6'. I had it ' arranged' so that the white knight would win. This worked most times. The only time I went 'outside' to take a video of it, my 'mates' moved the lances so the 'evil' knight won. Here is a photo of part of the castle. More images are available on the BLTG website. Quote
Hive Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Innovatively done, nice job! What really caught my eyes though is your smallish castle, which I'm really loving. I had no idea those colors could look so good in a castle, as I think the sand green roofs used in the HP theme throws those structures off somewhat. Do you have more pictures of your layout? I'd like to see more. Quote
HawkLord Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Agreed, that Castle has some great coloring to it. Very creative find. Quote
Combee Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 That's awesome! I love the king's carriage train Quote

I also wanted to have an 'evil' castle for the dragon knights and a 'good' castle for the Royal knights. Thus the colouring changed to red. Vindicare Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Very nice! Even a motorized carriage, old school monorail tracks, definite for that. Edited June 19, 2012 by Legocrazy81 Quote

lego_legis_legere Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 You are such a genius ! Instead of a train under the christmas tree, now there will be a medieval joust ! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Very nice mechanisms! I like the carriage on the monorail! Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 This is awesome! Love it, very well executed. I think I'm going to borrow your idea some day! Quote
brickie Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 I like the carriage on the monorail track! Thank you all for the positive feedback. Like the knights jousting, I couldn't let the King sit still in his Royal carriage; it had to move. Monorail track was ideal as it would fit inside the train track of our display. Of course, the carriage is 8 studs wide in parts so it is sitting precariously on a 4 stud wide base. When you are charging the battery before the second day of the show and you trip over the power cord, the King suddenly found 'freedom'. An hour later it was back together but I'm sure that it is not the same a when I built it at home. Quote
