Hi,

My name is Rich, and I'm a Legoholic.

I'm from Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, and I've recently come out of my Dark Ages.

Back in March, while clearing out one of the spare rooms for my 2nd child in (which is due imminently on August 7th), I came across a stash of Indiana Jones stuff that I'd been hoarding for a few years (I'm a big Indy fan). I noticed some LEGO (Motorcycle Chase). After opening it and inspecting it, I decided to have a look into what LEGO was doing now - as I felt I may have missed the boat on the Indy lego. I was right, but to my amazement, there was a set with Superman in it!

That was it, I had to have that Minifig - from there I started on CMFs, and now I'm hooked. To start with it was all about the minifigs, but now I'm interested in the sets too. In fact I'm looking forward to putting my daughter to bed at 7pm so I can start putting together the Hoth Wampa Cave set. I'd love to build it with her, but she's only 18 months old, so she's more likely to eat it than build it.

My most recent purchase is a used, but 100% complete Motorised AT-AT - I can't wait for it to arrive so I can start building it.

Anyway, I found Eurobricks through Brickset, and I like what you have to offer here. I look forward to getting to know some of you, and I may know a couple of you from Brickset.

Keep building

Rich.

Hi Rich

Welcome to Eurobricks. Glad to see another UK SW lego fan out there.

I will say that after your wallet was stolen, I would keep a close eye on your Bank account as Lego has a real habbit of going after that next!

Thanks everyone. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

I just wish I'd have re-discovered it sooner - I feel that I've missed a heck of a lot of really good SW sets that I'm going to have to pay through the nose for now that they are discontinued.

^ It really does. I have this MOC concept in my head, so on top of the AT-AT, I've just bought myself a Caribbean Clipper, and a LOT of Pirates. The wife doesn't know yet, but I have a feeling I'm going to get an ear-full. :-/

I recommend you go over to the Community part and read the 'bought in secret' thread. There's a wealth of knowledge on buying/hiding from your wife.

And, of course, LEGO stole my wallet too... :sing:

welcome

and I think lego stole my wallet, car and then opened a couple credit cards!

Note to win your wife over.

Build her a nice MOC. I am into castle and town mostly but as my wife likes butterflies, I build her one. It's about 14 inches wide and 9 inches long. I put it in a nice little shadow box and she is a lot more accepting of my hobby now!

Hey hey ! Welcome fellow UK dweller!

Did you manage to get any of the Sun paper giveaway sets? Drop me a pm if you didn't and I'll sort you out with a couple of the baggies to help you on your way. If nothing else I'm sure you would appreciate a batman on jetski! I did exactly the same - got into the minifigs then realised I needed bricks too!

Welcome aboard fellow new person!

If you haven't found flickr yet, I would recommend you take a look too! It's great for image hosting and a lot of the peeps here are there too!

Thanks for the offer. I have a couple already, and trust me, the amount of bricks I've bought over the last 2 months is practically criminal so I'm well on my way. I'm beginning to feel like what I'm doing is wrong. The postman must love rattling the packages to see if it's more LEGO.

Thanks to everyone else too for such a warm welcome. You'll mostly find me lurking the Classic Pirates boards, but I might occasionally pop in to some of the others.

No probs - I feel exactly the same way. My girlfriend is less than impressed that I need a lego room in our flat (shh it's really the utility room). Have you found bricklink yet? If you haven't check it out, www.bricklink.com it's a lot more affordable than ebay!

bricklink is the

I purchased the Maersk train last year as it looked pretty sweet, thinking to myself that this would look awesome next to my tv. Only a few weeks ago i discovered this forum and bricklink. I remember my sets that i used to own, i remember which pieces were missing and this lead me to buying a whole bunch of brings and 9v tracks. I think I'm on about 500$ worth of brincklink purchases in a few days. :(

make it worse, I'm not even living in Australia and dont know when I'll be moving back either, and all these parts are getting delivered to my parents home for when i pop over for a holiday, spend a day or two rebuilding some sets and then leave it for another year i suppose ;(.

damn you bricklink :(
