chuckie8646 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 HI So I am kind of new to digital lego design and am looking for a better piece of design software than LDD. I was looking at LDraw and brick smith. I downloaded Brick smith but am finding it kind of hard to use and was having issues downloading LDraw on my computer. I am running on a Mac book pro with OS Lion. I have found that LDD only allows you to rotate the bricks in 6 directions. left, right, forward, back, up and down. But if you are trying to do a spiral staircase you can't. And I also noticed that LDD is missing quiet a few bricks. If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them Thank you Charlie Quote
Superkalle Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 @chuckie - there is free rotation tool in LDD. It's called Hinge Tool. You can read about how to use it in the Help. Quote
chuckie8646 Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Thank you both I will look into both options Thanks again Charlie Quote
Palathadric Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 You should consider SR 3D Builder: SR 3D Builder all the way! Seriously, it's the way to go. Quote
EdmanZA Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 SR 3D Builder all the way! Seriously, it's the way to go. I agree, I use SR3D 90% of the time, with occasional forays into MLCAD (and even Excel and Notepad) for the times when I need to do things like set specific angles or positions etc. or do bulk modifications. I don't think SR3D works on a MAc, though. Quote
