Kahgarak Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=218574 :'-) I KNEW IT! Takadox' mouth is hollow, and see-through! Carapar looks awesome, with the spikes. Apparently, he has siren lights as eyes...most interesting.Perhaps their eye sockets are studs? I wonder why people with new sets can't think by themselves to take a few pictures of the back...? :-P Quote
Dino_Bot Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Frick. Frick frick...OMFG there's no way these things can't be any more perfect. Anyone got a pic comparing their size to that of a Toa Inika? Quote
Zarkan Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 :-( For the first time since I saw the very first pictures of the Barraki, I'm very dissapointed overall. All three of the Barrakii shown in the pictures have exceedingly UGLY heads, Carapar is ruined with terrible three tone pieces (and thats coming from a guy that said Toa Hahli's parts were okay), and Taxadox and Pridak look like they were thrown together in a few minutes. Worst of all is the "squid ammo," which is, put blantly, the worst, ugliest, and most pointless subsitute for a collectible we have ever had in Bionicle. *sad* Ugh, what a disaster. Now only Kalmah and Mantax appeal at all to me, and they very well might be the only ones I'll get, with an Ehlek purchase only a possiblity, since he has some good parts. The Matoran and Hydruka were dead on, but these guys are about as interesting as an old banana peel to me now (other than the three ones I mentioned above). I'm very upset with TLC now, as well as very heart broken that the Barraki ended up like this. Now, if you excuse me, I think I will go and cry in a corner. :'-( Quote
hewkii9 Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Yuck. I don't like those. Carapar looks like something you find inside a Kleenex, not a vicious CraBarakki. Takadox would have been much better with four spindly legs, and Pridak's only MoCing use would be making the head into one of a pterodactyl. All the organics sicken me, and did I mention that the color schemes looks like Cool Creations? And Am i the only one who doesn't like the robot hands, Viking horns, and studs entering BIONICLE? Joke: What's black and white and red all over? Pridak! Quote
KMOI Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Actually, I quite enjoy the use of Viking horns in Bionicle. Also, if you compare the colours to "Cool Creations", then wouldn't everything in the Bionicle universe fit under that? I mean heck, colour is good. Last thing I want is for Bionicle to be noir. :-D Anyhow, even though these photos are definately not a great way to judge the sets, considering the angles at which the photos were pretty bad, these guys actually seem alot less well thought out. I actually prefered when they were blurry and open to interpetation. The Carapar actually looks fairly decent. Yes, it's got new rubbery-organ pieces, but it actually looks complete. The Taradox is more skinny looking, but it works. After all, that thing is supposed to look like a praying mantis, and the execution of this it pretty solid all around. All and all, not too shabby in terms of what they try to accomplish. And the Pridak. Oh how far the mighty have fallen. At first, this one looked like the most promising one of them all, as the blur made it look like it was going to be a serpentine-like body structure with long, single clawed daggers for hands. Guess I was wrong! Okay, I'm fine being wrong, but the way it's made now is horrid. I don't care if LEGO or Greg tries to bribe me into liking it, because that thing is repulsive. I don't mean the asthetics either. I mean in construction. Just take a look at the legs, for example. Those aren't legs. Those are STILTS. For an upper body like that, I would expect slightly more in terms of legs. I was thinking along the lines of the legs of a centaur. Still skinny, but at least some variation. Instead, he's given standard Rahkshi legs and Metru-connectors with no motif going on whatsoever. Hmm, well, this IS LEGO, after all, so customization shouldn't be a problem! However, I'll think twice before buying the Pridak. As for the rest, I'd suggest you all just sit back and wait for better photos. Even though I don't own the sets, I still think it's far too early to judge. The pictures simply don't do the sets justice. I mean, I know articulation is good, and all, but what kind of person or animal would fight like this? Quote
Dino_Bot Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 After a hard look, I decided they looked...er...well...MegaBlockish... I don't like the Piranha one. In fact...I dont like them very much anymore. Because, for those prices...nothing's worth it, except the Inika. Yes, I'm quitting bionicle as I said before. Quote
optimus-convoy Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 :-/ ... I gotta give credit to Lego for making the canister sets more unique this time, but most of the Barraki come off looking too thin for my tastes. Though from a MOCer's standpoint, these things are chopped full useful robo claws, viking horns, light covers, nice socket joints, silver weapons, and heads to be put in strange places. I think I'll wait for more, and better photos before deciding but either way, I think I'll at least get Kalmah. Quote
Kahgarak Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 But what kind of person or animal would fight like this? They're not even fighting. At MNOnlineV3, the owner of these pics (whose username is Takadox) named the link to that pic ''Takadox using his hypnosis to make Carapar dance the can-can'' And, i think that that articulation is pretty good to dance the can-can. ;-) Quote
PSPguy Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 Just to let you all know: These are not mine. :'-( Quote
Wobo Ihi Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Found some more pictures here. So far, the Bionicle sets of 2007 has been a dissapointment. What is up with their arms and their shootable squid-thingies? The designers are in need of a long vacation. New Bionicle sets must be released every year, no matter how Megoblok-ish they are. Quote
bdd Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Found some more pictures here.So far, the Bionicle sets of 2007 has been a dissapointment. What's new there? Every year they are the same sets done in 8 different colors. This years sets are REALLY bad through, way way too think. It looks like they are going to fall over. Quote
rew12 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Hm. When I saw those Barraki pics, I didn't know what to say. They are based on some sea/ocean animals, and the whole idea is good, but the biggest problem with the Barraki is the lack of armor. Now, they don't look thin or ugly (but they are ugly), they look just like prototypes. I don't have enough armor pieces to make a good-looking Ehlek or Takadox. Another problem - the Squids. Lego is, at last, honestly calling them "ammo". Where is the collectability? :-/ Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I say this taking into account the GregF hating here, but he says that the collectible comes in the second half of the year. And by the gods, I hope it's good. Quote
