I've looked everywhere, ebay and bricklink alike, and even the crappy ones cost in the hundred usd range. buying the components by themselves is sadly no cheaper. Does anyone have these three sets at any reasonable price? At this point, it would almost be easier to hack something out of a not lego car.

Just wait for a good deal like I found: a MISB 8376 Hot Flame RC , $99.99USD, only one bid (me) Just check brickset.com for listings daily, and hopefully you can find a RC set. Good Luck!
