AERIAL LIFT CHALLENGE: How To

The Party mages must harness the power of the sapphire gem to propel the team to the top of the pit.

The total distance to be covered is 60 studs. The party travels upwards at 10 studs per round.
Each round drains ether from the mages in varying amounts dependent upon their teammates' rolls.
Each player will select a mage to float next to. Targetted mage's ether is what the non-mage's die rolls affect.
- SHIELD = 1 ether drained from targetted mage.
- CRIT = 2 ether drained from targetted mage.
- HIT = 3 ether drained from targetted mage.
- MISS = 4 ether drained from targetted mage.
- DAMAGE = 5 ether drained from targetted mage.
- SPECIAL DAMAGE = 6 ether drained from targetted mage.
[*]Using an item consumes an ether. If item is used on a non-mage, ether is drained from the mage previously targetted. If no mage was previously targetted (i.e. Round 1), ether is drained from mage listed first in the battle order.

[*]Only one mage per round may use a consumable but both may receive an item's benefit from others in one round.

[*]Choosing the action of "do nothing" in an attempt not to target a mage will drain 6 ether from both mages.

[*]If both mages run out of ether the party will drop. The round number divided by 6 then multiplied by a player's maximum health will equate to how much damage is done. Ex. If the Party drops in round 4, each member will lose health in an amount of (4/6*(maximum health)).

[*]Row does not matter. ROW MATTERS.

[*]Attacking from the back row drains ether from Arasmyth and attacking from the front row drains ether from Ad-Hoh.

[*]Roll used for attack is the same roll used to calculate the amount of ether drained. Ex. Elgar attacks Slug from back row - Shield: Tripleshot, would drain 1 ether from Arasmyth.

Party Leader, choose the order of actions.

Knifk, state if you want to sacrifice any additional health for your attacks.

Any enemy not targeted will Cling to a hero instead of dealing a Free Hit after everyone has acted. Effect causes 1 ether to be drained from mage based on row.

OoC: Correct, you no longer have to target yourself.

QM Note: The die roll you receive from your attack will determine how much ether is drained and the row position will determine who it will be drained from.

If you fight from the front row Ad-Hoh has his ether drained.
If you fight from the back row Arasmyth has his ether drained.

The back row offers the protection of receiving half damage from attacks but Arasmyth has a smaller ether pool to work with.

The front row causes you to receive full damage but Ad-Hoh has a larger ether pool to work with.

Sorry for the complexity and poor word choices. Also apologize for all OoC post but if I don't leave right now for my morning run I won't go later and it'll throw me off all day.

The Ether Eye Angeli floats curiously over to Thormanil. Perhaps he senses a potential mate. Not interested in discovering the eye's intentions, Thormanil quickly destroys the thing with his lightning enhanced totem. Proving he can wield the magics of two gems at once, Arasmyth casts a lightning spell as he continues to weave the signs that generate the uplifting wind. A slug leaps from the wall at Knifk who bats it aside with his shield. Unfortunately it lands on Thormanil. The slug wraps around the shaman,squeezing him tight. The additional weight causes him to slowly descend to the 30 stud mark before a mage catches him. Momentarily distracted by his falling comrade, Ad-Hoh swings his staff and misses the lunging slug that head butts him as it reaches the other side of the pit. He begins to lose his whirlwind spell as his remaining ether slips away. The camera zooms in to Arasmyth's widened eyes. Oh no...

The blue robed mage attempts to pick up Ad-Hoh's slack but finds he too is out of ether. The swirling winds reduce to a slow gentle breeze. The party briefy float upward a distance of 2 studs before hanging in the air for an instant. The battle savvy ranger decides to take down as many as he can. He loads a bolt and fires the quarrel. The force of the shot splits Wellington in half. Elgar fires two more shots, killing Arasmyth's slug and severely weakening another. Just before the 40th stud mark, the Party falls.

Knifk tries to use his shield as a gliding device but is unsuccessful. The heroes try to jam their weapons into the sides of the walls but to no avail. They hit the ground hard. Thormanil less so as he fell from a lower distance. Out of breath and severely bruised, it seems none were spared devastating injuries. Even the slug that rode down with the knight is having a tough time recovering. The heroes must get to their feet quickly as two slugs slither down from above, no longer impaired by the mages' whirlwinds.

In response to the invader, Knifk's body expels the slug preventing its symbiotic bond from forming permanently. Knifk doubles over and recoils to the back row before dark energy is released to the field of combat. Thormanil calmly approaches the remaining injured slug and puts his weapon through the back of what is probably the creature's neck.

Exhausted with little hope of escaping the pit the Party hears a voice. It is faint at first... "Hello! No, must throw my voice farther." ... but gradually becomes louder. "Hello to those down in the pit, I’ll get you out lickety split!" A melodic rhyming song is sung from above. "IIIIIIIII-III-I. I work alone!" Twinkling flickers of blue light surround Thormanil, Ad-Hoh and Arasmyth as they feel their ether begin to restore until it seems like they'll burst with power. The song continuously regenerates their ether allowing the heroes to try their sapphires again. They quickly ascend from the pit greeted by their saviour.

The Party clear the lip of the pit to meet a charming looking character with crystalline eyes, a red scarf fastened across the neck and one around his tight waist. "Knifk! You are looking much stronger my friend! You must have spent the time since our encounter with that dragon to train. And you, Ranger Elgar! Still bolting creatures first and asking questions later, eh? I caught the end of that skirmish but I'm sure you could have talked those slugs into helping you. Anyway, what brings you to this fine City of Nahrees? Looks like I'm not the only one to discover the secret entrance hidden in Eubric Forest."

How will the Party respond?

If you have a map of this place, quarters you’ve already searched we’ll erase and move on to other quarters, to look into these hate filled hoarders.”

Singerson laughed to himself, pleased with his rhyme. He had found some friends and just in time. He suddenly cocked his head to the side and looked confused. Now what again, was he supposed to do?
