Rail Co Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Hello, I have made a Capital Metro Train. Anyway it is from my hometown. It has only been up for a year or 2. I would like you to see how you like it and also where I might be able to get some custom stickers, so when I do buy this I can make it more realistic. Enjoy, Please tell me what I can do better. Thanks, Rail Co! Edited June 2, 2012 by Rail Co Quote
SDH Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Rail Co, that train looks nice, should look even better stickered up. If you want to go with more realistic bogies take a look at Hoexbro's SNCF X3800. He has a really cool trick for what I'd call a falsely hidden bogie that has a more realistic look for low floor's and allows trains to corner. Definately take some pics once you get it built. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Looks like a nice rail car, it will be good to see it in the brick once built. Can I ask, looking at the photo of the real train, it appears to have a large white (silver maybe?) ram type thing on the front end, what is that for, is it some kind of cow catcher or is it just a fluke of the photo only it is hard to make it out? I'm reasonably sure that the white part is part of the platform, and the silver bar belongs to the lamppost you see just below the train in the picture. I do like the train and think you've done a good design job overall, but I'm guessing you could get some cornering (or at least overhang) issues with such a long distance between the central bogie and the other wheels. I also wonder whether the section between the red doors and the front/end of the train is 2-3 studs too long, in comparison to the rest? Quote

I havent seen that on other pictures of the train. I believe that it is part of the platform to tell where the train needs to be or to let people know the train is stopped and it is okay to cross. ( I think when it folds back the train is getting ready to depart). Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Great CAD project ...I hope to see this train in real lego! Quote
Rail Co Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Thanks for all the replies but I would like to know where I can get some custom made stickers. I would like it to look more detailed. Also with hiding the wheels I would have to change a lot of my train to make it more of a 7 wide train. Also I cant see how Hoexbro made his bogie. Thanks, Rail Co Quote
JopieK Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 We produce customs stickers (on the same materials LEGO does). Small series are a bit a challenge but I can do my best of course. An other option is decal paper with water slide transfers. They aren't that durable though. Quote
