Hey all, I've found a LDD model that is both striking and familiar to my creations. Someone by the name of TVJUNK85 has been making almost exact replica's of my dragons from HTTYD, and has made several videos on Youtube showing them off.

Even though he does give me credit, I did not know of his existence until some kid accusted me of stealing "his" designs.. I've seen stuff plagiarised before, but not like this. But what's best of all is that he's selling the copied designs off of his site - http://natezillaproductions.webs.com/apps/webstore/products/category/630773, and if that's not plagiarism I don't know what is.

I know this is probably not the best place to report this, but I thought I'd like to bring it to your attention and what to do about it.

I compared the Hideous Zipplebacks and I have to say they look pretty darned identical. Perhaps not much conceleation, but your version looks much better.

I had thing thing happen to me too once, and then I asked the person to take the models down. Have you done that?

I have asked him to take it down, but he claims that by altering the model it makes it his.

I don't know if it is the right section, probably the LEGO general discussion would be better and would have greater visibility, anyway...

The good things:

- he gave you the credits.

The bad things:

- he didn't ask you the permission.

- he sell the instructions of the model (that is: he take advantage of your work for profit).

I think it is not a good think to sell a LEGO design anyway (both because LEGO is not something your but belongs to TLG and because I see LEGO as something fun, where the pleasure is to share your creations, not try to take profit by them), but selling the work of another person is really deprecable.

I have asked him to take it down, but he claims that by altering the model it makes it his.

Ask him to take a GPL code, make some modify and sell the software as closed. Probably a lawyer will knock at his door the following day!

What he told is simply out-of-the-world. If you can proof the authorship of the models, he could have legal issues.

Anyway, in this situation, it is a matter of fairness.

From the video's it sounds like a little kid, not an adult.

Send him an E-mail that looks and sounds very official with a lot of legal techno babble and name some big lawfirm and it would scare the bejuzes out of him...

Wel that is what i would do

If memmory serves me in the US of A small alterations does not make it someone elses, it is still plagarism, you have a lot of very strong laws that protect someone intellectial property, ie. if it's your idea, and you can proof it, it the other guy is F***ed (pardon my french).

I've seen it happen to me a few times whith models i uploaded through LDD, it bugs me a lot that others lay claim on models you put an effort in.
