Burf2000 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Hey people, last time I asked you lot for help, I had a fantastic response and the solution worked really well! (Thanks Alastair Ryan) So I have built this (some of you might of seen it) However, I am struggling to think of a cool head for it, like gadgety with some sensor in it maybe (NXT colour sensor, maybe a mind sensor magic want?), I was going to go with a sort of pyramid shape but the base being vertical. Seemed to be pretty hard to build and plate. So, first off, there is NO PRIZE, its just a bit of a brain storming / give me ideas lol :) Probably suitable for thought of you who are bored. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 What about trying to make a head based on this guy? Quote
DLuders Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) Talking LEGO robot skull reciting movie lines (with fashionable shades): num1builder made a nice, big Lego Technic "Human Head" (whose images I cannot link here). Edited May 28, 2012 by DLuders Quote
timslegos Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 How many parts do you estimate are there? That thing is huge! How about something like the head in this video (only larger): tim Quote
DLuders Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 @ Burf2000: If you had access to LOTS of Lego Technic Connectors, you could form concentric rings (like those used in my Lego Technic Crown below). You could form a cylindrical neck, change sizes for the head rings and finish off the top with some Technic Liftarms. Note that the rings are not circular; they are OVAL (to conform to the shape of a human head). The lengths of the connecting axles differ to make the varying, oval shape. As I explained on MOCpages, "To make your own Prince Crown, start with a single ring fitted to your head, then place 3-long (3L) Technic Pins in ALTERNATING holes. Build your second ring and slide it down over the 3L Technic Pins of the first ring, then pop 3L Technic Pins into the empty vertical holes of the #3 Technic Connectors. That way, successive rings will be connected together as the crown is built upwards. Keep alternating 3L Technic Pins as you build upwards." Quote
Siegfried Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 What about trying to make a head based on this guy? I'd rather the girl in the background. Quote
Ramacco Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) Maybe this one? or or my favourite I was not allowed to add more media or http://mocpages.com/moc.php/166327 Edited May 28, 2012 by Ramacco Quote
Burf2000 Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 Some brilliant ideas people. Do we think the eyes should scan back and forth all the time? Quote
DLuders Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) As shown in this Eurobricks post and Rebrickable, you could make a Lego Hoberman Sphere (to form a 3-dimensional head shape). Put some eyes, nose, and mouth on the sphere and you've got an (adjustable-size) Lego Technic Head! You already wrote that you "really fancy building one of these!" anyway.
