For US Eurobricks members, Barnes & Noble will be holding a Lego building event in June. Stores are getting two small sets for kids to choose from, build, and then take home. One is the Lab Harry Potter polybag and the other is the Friends Ice Cream Stand.

Although not shown in the Brickset image, the Ice Cream Stand set at B&N includes the rare orange cat from the Friends Lemonade Stand and most recent Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle.

Here are the Online and print ads for the Princeton, New Jersey store's Lego Event. Sorry, I don't know why the ad writer chose to use the phrase "Lego micro bricks." They are the regular bricks and regular Lab and Ice Cream Stand sets:

MOC: I'm sure this has been said before, but for any fans of the DC animated cartoon Young Justice, or just DC fans, the orange cat from the Ice Cream Stand works well with a custom Klarion the witch boy minifgure. Here's mine:

-Moderator, I put this thread here because of the chance, maybe the last chance, to get a Harry Potter building set. Feel free to move the thread if there's a better spot. Thanks!

So is this event only at that one New Jersey B&N location?

It is a corporate-wide June event, but different stores will have the event on different days in June. For example, the Princeton, NJ store will be having the event on Friday June 22, but the Fairless Hills, PA store is having their Lego event on Thursday June 21.

To check the event day and time for a specific store, visit the B&N Store Locator Page. Type in the zip code, and find the store in question in the list that comes up. Then click the link that says "See more store events" (as shown below).

Then scroll through the store's June event list. If the store in question is hosting the event, you'll see a listing like this:

Because the number of free sets is limited, B&N asks that you register for the event by e-mailing the store's Customer Relations Manager (CRM) or sign-up in the store.

That's confusing. The regular Friends sets don't use that cat, they have a different, more cartoonish cat. Wouldn't they use the Friends kitty in a Friends mini-set?

Lego did the same thing with the Toys R Us Friends Lemonade Stand promotional set as well. LegoMyMama has some pictures of that set on Eurobricks here. I guess it could work as a very small kitten for the Friends line.

Personally, I'm thrilled that it's the traditional cat mold. Then no one outside the US misses out on an exclusive Friends cat color, and you can use the Ice Cream Stand traditional orange cat for the DC characters Teekl (see above) or Supergirl's cat, Streaky:

My store shows it as requiring reservations and ONLY for kids up to 12.

I'm almost positive all B&N stores running the event are requiring reservations, but I hadn't heard some stores are officially limiting the age to 12 and under. That's interesting.

That's pretty cool. My daughter actually has that cat from the Hogwarts game, and keeps rubbing it in my face because it's one of the few coveted Lego items that she has and I don't. It is an awesome kitty, and I definitely prefer it over the Friends cat. It just sounded very weird that they would use an extremely rare piece from a different theme in a Friends giveaway.
