River Monster Ambush

Hello everyone! I made this for my CUUSOO project here: <a href="http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/7694" rel="nofollow">lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/7694</a> Enjoy the MOC and be sure to let me know what you think.

This Sea Monster waits at the jungle's river waiting for the right moment to strike. It has a long poweful tail used for swimming and strong claws. Other than that I'll let the pictures do the talking. Constructuve criticism is appreciated.

Nice monster! The only thing bothering me is that the underside of his body is a perfect rectangle.

The tail looks great And I like how posable he is

Yeah, I got a bit of a complaint about that. I can easily fix that if I put one more plate on it's stomach. I might just have to update it some time. Glad you like it. I am going to have to get working in the guild after this...

I would change the monster completely. The color is good, but you should add some different color greens, and make the river monster rounder and the tail shorter. Use the pieces you used for the tail for the body, and it should look pretty good.

I think the tail length is fine personally for a river monster. However, I do agree with you about rounding it off especially with the under belly and shoulders. I'll try to get to it as soon as I can. About adding different greens, I did and then it looked like barf literally. Is there any other color you think would accent the dark green well?

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to play around with some scenery and LEGO water and it turned into this. The monster was fun to make too.

I agree with you that the length of the tail works - but have you thought about maybe re-working the very end? I think what some people might be looking for is a gradual decrease in width carried all the way through to the tip - something akin to an alligator's tail. You could, of course, go in another direction and add some flair to the end of the tail, making it almost like another means of attack for the monster.

If you, as planned, focus on rounding out the "body" of the beast, the added bulk will conform nicely with the tail you already have in place in terms of width.

If you do revisit this monster maybe putting a different coloured underside belly would work - like a tan set of scales or something :)
