Minifig_Matt Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Hello EB community, Just taking an opportunity to introduce myself so I can start posting and contributing, I've been lurking a couple of months. My name is Matt, I'm 32 this year and live in Syd Australia. Emerged from darkness by accident earlier in the year when I was given sone FREE Series 3 CMF's from my local cinema. I went home googled LEGO and the reedy is history. I was able to find a few boxes of old LEGO I had from the 80's that my parents had in their house still but have since purchased more in the last few months than I had in my entire childhood. I have even been able to get my wife into building :) Anyway, that's about it for now. I hope I can learn much more from this community and have a great AFOL experience. -MM Quote

Flipz Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Welcome! We're all very jealous of you managing to snag free Collectible Series minifigs, even if it is Series 3. I wish they'd run that promotion for Series 7, or better yet the Olympic Series, here in the United States! Welcome, and enjoy your stay! Quote
Minifig_Matt Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Welcome to Eurobricks. What are your favorite themes? I have started with the 2012 City theme, Fire ATV, Fire Engine, Prisoner Transport, Police Minifigs, Ambulance, Garbage Disposal truck. I have the Public Transport set put aside for latin the year as a gift from my wife. I am also interested in MOCing ( is that the correct term?) City type sets and have made a couple of Pick a Brick orders to increase my collection of cool elements. I am into collecting Minifigs, I almost have complete series 3,4,5,6 and 7, just chasing a few missing ones. Will be trying either ebay or bricklink to get the rest. I also like some of the Alien Conquest minifigs a bit disappointed that we won't see more any time soon. -MM Quote

If you are looking to acquire the complete 7 series I would strongly suggest starting with series 1, as this one is getting expensive, about $150AU on Bricklink. If you didn't know about Bricklink before now then welcome to the darkside, affectionately referred to as cracklink for obvious reasons. MOCing is indeed the correct term and it's a great road to go down. The community here is great for feedback and help on achieving your building goals remember the more you build the better you get. legobaby Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I have the Public Transport set put aside for latin the year as a gift from my wife. I have this one and its fun to built so your wife will definitely love it! Its actually fits on the train tracks so you can create 'tram' line in your city area with the tracks. Quote
Magma Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Welcome from Canberra! Or should I say, welcome back to lego. I re-emerged a few years ago and its cost me a pretty penny since. Like you, I think I have far more lego now than I did as a kid. And far more large sets - never used to get them as a kid. Quote
