Right. Who knows? There might be some revised sets or minifigs that we haven't seen in pictures yet! (Like Theodin and Halidir.)

I really hope they do a special helmet for Theoden. If they make a single helmet mold for all Rohan characters, I will be upset. Also, you misspelled both Theoden and Haldir.

If they onlydo 1 rohan helmet mold I hope its based off Eomer.

Sadly it appears it isnt.

I just don't understand the general feeling of disappointment with the Nazgul minifigs. Nazgul are men/creatures shrouded entirely in black so deep you can't make out any details of them. They have no form inside of their armour, and the armour is mostly hidden by their night-black cloaks. Outside of Frodo's moments of "Ring-Vision", the only detail we see on a Nazgul in the first movie is their spiky gauntlets and boots, both of which are impossible to render on a minifig.

How exactly were TLG supposed to make these minifigs look any more like Nazgul?

Yeah, I agree. Perhaps a skirt piece might have helped though. Leg printing could have also worked because they are a bit plain.

While it's not hard to make custom versions, you really can't get any better than that. I'd rather have an "insulting" official minifigure than have none at all...

Nazgûl costumes are multi-layered and are rather detailed. Even if the print was more detailed, there's still nothing you can do about their shape.

I think the nazgul are fine except for the hoods, I really think a new hood mold would have been the right choice; in the movies their hoods are narrow and oval like.

Just a minor caveat though.

Im pretty happy with all of the figs actually. dont forget, they have to make Brick Figures of the real actors, and giving a Ringwraith a typical black hood is that exactly. Just like moulding the elf / orc ears on their hairpieces, the head stays the shape it has been forever!

Same goes for Shelob, Making it a exact replica is not what the designers are aiming at i guess. They want someone young to see the set, and think, That's Shelob. And someone like most of us who think, meh, it looks allright, lets buy one, get a bucket of bricks, and make it better, Selling their product to both the young boy, and his older version!

Same goes for other features in those sets, Why just a Helm's Deep wall of 20 bricks long --> Becouse most of us will get a bunch of grey bricks, and make it longer, buy 4 "battle packs" of both good and evil forces, and be very happy with the result. And the young boy.. For him the set is enough.

I'm not complaining at all about the Nazgul. They look fine. That is pretty much how I have always made my own: black hood, black cape and some black Sith torso or something. Now, with the official fig, we get a new print and a new cape. It looks enough like a Nazgul without LEGO having to make a million new molds. And, if LEGO had added all sorts of new molds and more print it would have really boosted up the price of the sets the appear in.

Hey guys,

after reading for endless pages, I finally decided to register. Never thought I'd be interested in LEGO again, but I simply love the combination of one of my favourite books/ favourite movie and the memories of the greatest childhood toy. :)

The minifigures look very good this far, but I am thoroughly disappointed in the LEGO representation of Aragorn. As somebody else wrote previously, something just seems amiss. The colour of the figure's pants/ legs is way off, and giving Aragorn something other than a sword would be great. For example, he had a backpack and bow/ quiver strapped on his back in the first movie. So giving him the accessory we've seen on the Legolas poster (the quiver which holds a bow) could work. I assume he'll get a cloak in future sets as he didn't wear one prior to Lorien in the movies, either.

Gandalf is also a bit of a let-down with his staff and missing hair. I guess, Gandalf the White will look much better. Boromir, who on the very first picture (the fellowship) looked too bright to me, has become my favourite LEGO representation this far. Simply spot on! I like the bad guys, too and will see what the sets look like before deciding to purchase some or simply go after some minifigures.

I found a picture showing Aragorn as the king which looks amazing. Anduril is easily recognizable and Legolas looks great, too. Given the double cloak Aragorn wears and the faces which vastly differ from the official pictures we've seen, I assume it is fan-made. I hope that TLC will take it as an inspiration for future figures in the theme, though.

Hm. He immediately reminded me of Qui-Gon Jinn (Light Flesh with Black Chin Dimple), and Legolas seems to wear some traditional Bavarian (German) or Austrian dress. He looks like Florian Silbereisen with Bow and Arrow.

Who is Florian Silbereisen?

Can't get enough of Florian Silbereisen?

wait there is a new quiver part that holds a bow?

According to the poster with Legolas, yes. But, as has been seen before, not everything TLG shows us in a poster is true.

Here's a nice picture of a brick-built Frodo and Sam from the German Toy Fair.

The only reason I posted this is because you can see Shelob in the background! (Much better the Aragorg, huh?) Plus, she looks like she has dark orange or dark red pieces on her! (Do you suppose that Frodo will have a special web-wrapped torso?)

I really doubt LEGO will do a new quiver that can hold a bow. I think they just showed that so they could accurately do the poster. If it were true, I would think we would have seen it on Legolas and maybe Aragorn.

Also, does anyone else think that we should be seeing another promo pic with Theoden, Eomer, Haldir and the Rohirrim? I really want to see them! Roha is my favourite culture from Middle-Earth, and I really hope they do it justice, which by the looks of the other figs, shouldn't be an issue.

I agree. As much as I love the fellowship, the Rohan minifigs are the ones I am looking forward to the most.

I hope this happens:

lotr-elven-shield-limited-edition.jpg

I would LOVE to see Second Age elves! They are my favorite elf design of all the trilogy! Those helmets would be amazing in LEGO, and we desperately need curved elven blades! Yet, I fear that that shield could be done by just taking the classic LEGO long shield and printing it accordingly. Let's hope that doesn't happen!

Also, the more I look at the Mordor orc, the more I think he is the best baddie of them all, along with the Uruk. If you look at the first picture of the orc on this page

http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Orcs

you will see how well LEGO has designed the basic orc. Sure, the fig has a bit more hair, but that is just LEGO being cost effective.

Yeah, I think third party accessory providers such as brickforge did not capture that look with their "elven" stuff. Their elven blade looks like an anatomically formed errr... something.

If I look at the possibilities Games Workshop has, I wonder how some elves like this would look as Lego:

I actually used to collect Games Workshop LOTR figurines. I still have all my collection, and it looks really cool, but the reason I collected it was because of that lack of LEGO LOTR.

The Galadrihm elves would make great figs, but unless they make another expansion or a battle pack for Helm's Deep, we probably wont get those guys. I would love them, though. They would most likely have new helmets, and then nice new prints and dark blue capes. They would be great.

Anyway, this is slowly becoming a wish list, and it does not belong here.

Haldir has the same clothes as the rest of the elves, only diference is the color of the cape aswell as the added helmet.

You can easily "convert" haldir minifigures into generic elves.

Another diference is the color of the fabric btween the legs but im not sure if lego is gonna show this

Also their capes are not dark blue, they are more of a light blue/gray color, I would suggest Lando's sand blue cape from star wars.

But yeah would be a little expensive this way so I hope lego makes em!

I was looking at the description of LEGO's booth at the NYC Toy Fair, and it said they would be having Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit there. Would this mean that they will have some of the next wave, or are they counting sets in the first wave under two names?

Here is the text. Third and fourth last themes.

Construction sets for ages 18mos. and up: LEGO, DUPLO, TECHNIC; Bricks & More, Disney PrincessesCreator, Minifigures, City, Friends, Dino, Monster Fighters, Ninjago, Super Heroes, Racers, Hero Factory, Star Wars, Cars 2, Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, SpongeBob SquarePants, LEGO Board Games

It sure sounds like some of the hobbit sets or minifigs will show up, but I'd think its VERY unlikely. 9 days to go.

This exactly the reason I'm hoping for battle packs. My brother used to have the GW collection and he gave me the books and sold his collection. So with enough battle packs, we can start playing again in a Lego scenery :) can't wait...
