Fives Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 today wednesday in germany, february 14 in new york. Are pictures allowed at the Germany toy fair?
Poison Ivy Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Are pictures allowed at the Germany toy fair? Yes, they are.
deskp Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Are pictures allowed at the Germany toy fair? I dont know, it didnt seem any images was allowed before new york last year. it is up to lego what they wanna show and to who and if images are allowed. I'd expect the same setup from lego as they had in london.

John31388 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 To be honest I didnt think I was goig to get anything from this line but after seeing the minifigs I have changed my mind on that.
Jargo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 So there's 17 unique minifigs across 6 sets. That's pretty impressive. 1. Gandalf 2. Aragorn 3. Boromir 4. Theoden 5. Eomer 6. Legolas 7. Frodo #1 jacketless 8. Frodo #2 with jacket 9. Samwise 10. Merry 11. Pippin 12. Gimli 13. Gollum 14. Moria Orc 15. Mordor Orc 16. Uruk-Hai 17. Ringwraith Articulated horse Big angry Troll Shelob Did I miss anyone? I doubted this theme would happen and I'm stunned that it has and how well it's turned out so far. I'm guessing Lego has the license until the second hobbit movie has done the cinemas around the world. Say, June 2014. so that'd be enough time for a second wave of LOTR and the Hobbit sets. I think I like the look of the upcoming sets. I definitely love the minifigs. Not sure I'll buy actual sets. Might just get the minifigs or just new parts. Finances are really tight this year. I'm feeling guilty spending money on a few CMF purchases so I've no idea how I'd square the cost of these sets. Hope there's a chess set as that would swell armies.

Jargo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Dang I thought I had Haldir listed. Has there ever been a licensed theme that had so many different minifigs right off the bat?
Forresto Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Will there be any set that has a lot of those orcs? The ears and the prints are a thing of beauty!
Fives Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Dang I thought I had Haldir listed. Has there ever been a licensed theme that had so many different minifigs right off the bat? I don't think so, except maybe Star Wars. The reason is that most other themes have had a single central character in every set, whereas in LOTR has the Fellowship as its central character, allowing for more variety amongst figs.
Ceroknight Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Will there be any set that has a lot of those orcs? The ears and the prints are a thing of beauty! Whoa! I haven't seen you post for a while! I think the set with these has two or three...
Suspsy Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I sure hope we get a Fell Beast set with another Ringwraith and Eowyn!
deskp Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Dang I thought I had Haldir listed. Has there ever been a licensed theme that had so many different minifigs right off the bat? POTC had like 27-30 including lots of jacks and the the later released black pearl.
Dwellington Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Man, it just occurred to me that both of our elves are in the two more expensive sets. I hope there's a cheaper way to get elves down the road, I want as many of those ears as I can get my hands on! Also, I hope they make a Rivendell for this line or the Hobbit, so we have some dark hair elf ears, too...

Chanses of plenty of elves in the sets based on movie 2, seeing as there should be a whole army. Maybe even a new outfit for Legolas!
Cammo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Lego PotC had 25 different minifigures or something like that in the first wave. I'm going check it so I can tell you the exact number.

Cammo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Ok but I see there are 3 figures missing Davy Jones, Bill turner and Maccus so that makes 31 in total. But back to LotR ;)
Delta 38 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I've finally watched The Fellowship of the Ring, my first Lord of the Rings movie viewing. The figures now are a lot better now that I recognise them. Boromir and Aragorn look a bit off colour-wise though. Unfortunately, it's not easy to get all nine Nazgûl/Ringwraiths/Black Riders because only two appear in a set, and it's a rather large one. If there were three in the set, you could buy three of it to get nine. Since there are two, you'd need to buy five... way too costly. I know, they're not too hard to make, and there's always Bricklink, but I'd like the official versions. Also, the torso piece is new, I think. I hope they appear again at some point, perhaps along with their horses.
Dwellington Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 There are seven Ringwraiths missing. There are a number of other scenes they could recreate in Lego: -Buckleberry Ferry had one Ringwraith. -The Prancing Pony would make a nifty set, could have a couple more and a Butterbur. -I think out of all the theoretical, non-existent sets I want, I really want a Ford of Bruinen set. A handful of wraiths, a sickly Frodo, an Arwen, and as many horses as we can get our hands on without making it more than like $15. I can dream, can't I? There aren't really any moments with the Nazgul in the Two Towers, but I think it'd be kind of nifty if, should a theoretical Eowyn and the Witch-King set happen, they include a hood and sword along with the helmet so you can have him fit in more with the other Ringwraiths. Considering how the Fellowship itself is split up evenly among the sets we've seen so far, I think it'd be kinda neat if the Nazgul were similarly divided.

I forgot about them. They weren't in the main part of the scene though. If that set was made, it could come with about three Nazgûl (plus horses), Arwen and Frodo. There isn't a lot of scenery though, I'm not sure how it'll look... And yeah, I was a bit surprised considering they seem to be major antagonists in the first movie. Maybe there aren't enough parts of the movie where the Nazgûl appear, but it's odd that they're only in one set.
Criteas Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I dont really think its odd that only 2 Ringwraith's are released at start, its just the first wave. And looking at the total wave, its pretty well mixed. Both in Fellowship characters, Scenes, and something from each of the 3 movies. (3x Fellowship o/t Ring, 2x Two Towers, 1x Return o/t King, And Orc Forge, which isnt really related to one movie i guess) I think its pretty easy to come up with sets, which have a strong tie to the story, and include some characters, and besides that, they can make lots and lots of Battlepacks with Soldiers and Characters from each faction. And to share my thoughts, these are some of the thing i came up with / have a strong desire to see released, - Bridge of Khazad'Dum, Amazing part in the movie, Stairs that can break off / lean forwards to get the fellowship down, Moria Orcs chasing them, and in the end, a collapsable bridge with Gandalf and a brick-build Balrog (with maybe a light brick inside ) - Warg Attack, The people of Rohan getting ambushed by orcs on wargs (new mould ) and some Rohirrim defending them + Aragorn on Brego, who gets missing. - Battle on Pellenor, Witch-King of Angmar on his Fell Beast, Striking at Theoden, and Eowyn and Merry killing him. - Forbidden Pools. A part of water, with gollum and a fish, surrounding by rocks, and the outpost of Faramir and his Rangers, with captured Frodo and Sam. Ahh, a man can dream =D

JackJonespaw Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 The first three sets you describe are a must have... and yes, a light brick inside the Balrog is a very cool idea I agree. Maybe like the old Exo-Force, where there were clear flex pieces, they could wind around the Balrog's body in different ways to make it light up.
