Deathleech Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) Brickset.com's News page has a picture of the New Hobbit Board Game. Apparently it's out at Toys R Us already? Ya, it has been up for pre-order for a few months. It had an expected release date which i posted in the games sub forum. As for the LotR game Villains poster, as I said in the other thread, its nice to get a good look at Saruman and the Balrog. The mountain troll in full armor also looks cool. Everything else we have seen though. and the Mordor Orcs still have the same uniforms as in the Orc Forge set... /sigh Edited September 24, 2012 by Deathleech
Bilbo Baggins Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Has anyone here at the forum has seen the game personally, I'd love to see a review
Fives Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 If Saruman's official minifig is exactly like the video game picture, I will ridiculously happy! Beautiful! Same with the troll, Witch-King and Fell Beast! Need all those in sets!
DaleDVM Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I just ordered the pc version of the game. Elrond is just too good to pass up. The game poster is just flat out incredible. I am hoping the troll was made so the helmet and armor just get put onto the normal troll. That would be some smart engineereing. The Balrog looks fantastic. I know it is hard to see detail but I love all of the flame printing on the Balrog parts. Saruman is literally perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Artanis I Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Yeah, love the Saruman, troll & balrog depictions. Not so keen on the fell beast, I'd like to see some more reusable existing pieces included. Keen for this game, and more sets please...
clouette Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I am guessing this is the black gate scene. Am I right?
The_Chosen_1 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I love it when I log back in and see a surprise like this! That poster is incredible!!! I really hope we eventually get all of the characters featured there.
Legonardo Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I am guessing this is the black gate scene. Am I right? Nope, the back of the "throne room" from helms deep with lots of lotr figs
XimenaPaulina Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Am I being overly optimistic to assume (and expect) that we'll see almost all, if not all, the CGI characters/beasts we've seen in the posters/video game/promotional images in future sets somewhere along the line? - Gandalf the White - Saruman - Galadriel - Eowyn - Witch-King of Angmar - Fell Beast - Mordor Troll - brick-built Balrog - Mumakil/Oliphaunt - Gondor soldiers ...just to name a few. I mean, they already made the designs for these characters/beasts, so it's just a matter of "fleshing them out" and figuring out which set they'll come in (knowing how advanced TLG works they might already know which sets and when they will release these) This is also the case for CGI Star Wars video game characters/beasts (Rancor, CW Padme, etc.), most have eventually been released in sets even if some took quite some time.
wesker Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Really impressed with how the Mordor Troll and Fell Beast look. Both Saruman and the Witch-King look phenomenal! Hopefully the official minifigures look just as good as their video game counterparts. The Balrog however may take a bit of time getting used to. Compared to the molded creatures and Shelob, it looks a bit thrown together. Baddies, That sauroman is good, should wear a skirt peice tho. Nah the legs look fine. Lego rarely uses skirt pieces for action oriented characters anyway. Just look at Gandalf, Princess Leia and Emperor Palpatine.

They could probably release everything we have seen in 2 LotR waves if they have 6-7 sets per wave. A lot of the characters appear numerous times in the films and could easily be put in any one of several sets. A Minas Tirith set alone could knock out over half that list with Gandalf the White, Eowyn, the Witch King on Fel Beast, Mordor Troll in battle armor, and Gondor Soldier(s), though really that would probably be two sets. That's just too much awesome for a single set I really hope we get everything how it appears on these game posters, or at least very close. It all looks very, very good imo.
Haltiamieli Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 The Balrog is perfect. I love the flame whip. Don't you need the old style flames to connect them properly?? I wonder if they will reuse that old mold then. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't use the flame pieces like that even if they were still in production - it's all nice and well for the digital game, but the connections aren't simply strong/durable enough for any play or active posing.

Haltiamieli Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 wait they aren't in production anymore? Oops, it seems they are indeed still in production. I have just assumed that the old style ones went out of production when the new part was introduced, but it hasn't happened. According to Bricklink there was still old-style flames with pins in 9483 Agent Mater’s Escape and City Firemen Minifigure Pack this year. A bit strange, I would say. Maybe they are phasing out slowly?
Wardancer Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Greaat figs. Sarumans torso reminds me of Dumbledores. Too bad the baddies have more interesting creatures than the gooddies as is often the case. Where are giant eagles? Where is glow in the dark freaky Galadriel?
deskp Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Nah the legs look fine. Lego rarely uses skirt pieces for action oriented characters anyway. Just look at Gandalf, Princess Leia and Emperor Palpatine. I would prefer Gandalf with a skirt pieces aswell. He is basicaly a mountain of cloth and legs does not represent that well.
The_Chosen_1 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I will be one very happy collector if they make most of what's on these posters! So many great possibilities here...
Masked Builder Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Okay, that poster is just awesome. I'm definitely going to try to pick this game up some time later when it's cheaper. Mostly I just want the sets right now.
Dodger Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Has anyone seen anywhere in the UK that's including the Elrond figure with the game?
Pulp Detective Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 So I wonder when the sets will be realesed.I mean the hobbit game is already at stores and as I heard the figures from the movie are also in the stores,so the only thing left are the official sets but still no pics,I bet that we'll get 'em at the mid of octomber.
Fives Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Tauriel's hair is going to call for a new, one-time mould, which I'm honestly quite glad about. Sure, they could just re-use Legolas's hair, but it would be nice to see a new mould.
SpiderSpaceman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 The troll on the poster: so they could actually viably do that helmet, yeah? he does have studs on top. Tauriel's hair is going to call for a new, one-time mould, which I'm honestly quite glad about. Sure, they could just re-use Legolas's hair, but it would be nice to see a new mould. Wait.. we're getting an official 'wehavetogoback Kate'?
deskp Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Wait.. we're getting an official 'wehavetogoback Kate'? It's possible.
SpiderSpaceman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 If lego makes this guy I hope they use the long woody arms. I've given up hope on ever seeing those again.
