Purists don't have to do something the way Lego intends it to be.

Then the member won't have a problem removing the hands then.

Thanks for agreeing with me with that statement.

Except that it is widely considered one piece, I believe due to how brittle the individual components become after separating them several times. You do realize that we are able to pick and choose which of Lego's ideas we can follow, right? As long as a piece isn't modified, it can be considered purist. Yellow mixing with flesh can be purist. As a matter of fact, 10123 Cloud City contains both flesh and yellow. Yellow was the choice for Caucasians. Gamling is such. He may be yellow.

Hopefully we'll get non exclusive Eowyn figures if we get a second LOTR wave

I hope we see both the armoured version and the ROTK dress that Nuju Metru did an amazing custom of:

*snip*

For a minute I thought that was real and nearly crapped my pants!

Looking forward to these sets. There are so many great new sets this year. My wallet will be empty for a large majority of the year!

Only if you remove them improperly, and that can happen anyways with any piece anyways.

You do realize that we are able to pick and choose which of Lego's ideas we can follow, right?

Of course, but if your gonna lecture me on how purists follow their own certain view based on Lego's view, and then give me a runaround and say they don't, it doesn't add up to your argument here.

As a matter of fact, 10123 Cloud City contains both flesh and yellow.

No it doesn't. It contains yellow and brown (sorry but that's how the color is classified according to BrickLink)

Lego didn't start using flesh tone colors in Star Wars until the year after.

In any case, I've got better things to do then get dragged into this mess. I prefer not limiting myself.

Yet I believe it's easier to damage these when compared to about any other combination of pieces I've taken apart.

What I said was that those that choose to consider the torso as one individual piece, instead of having the five components, have a perfectly fine torso for Gamling. Colouring is not an issue for some people. If you've read the Yellow vs. Flesh debates on here, then you remember that there were several members who are perfectly fine with mixing. There are, I imagine, some that fall into both categories. I'm saying that it is possible to have one boundary and not the other.

Going off Bricklink, the basketball players were flesh & brown. Brown was used as the darker flesh. At the same time brown was a dark flesh, yellow was the light flesh. Gamling may still be made yellow and easily fit in with the other Rohirrim in the eyes of some individuals.

Not when removed correctly. I've never had issues with cracking parts, and I customize. If you remove arms, legs, torsos, and hands incorrectly, you are guaranteed cracking.

And this may very well be the reason they're considered one piece.

I never knew Lego molded all those pieces together.

And like I said, other pieces crack when put together and pulled apart. Like bricks. It's how the person handles them tat warrants cracking.

They arrive that way in the box, as we all know. I've never had pieces crack unless severe stress was placed on them. With arms, torsos, and waists, after time, these break more and more. You may very well have a way to dislocate these safely 100% of the time, but not everyone is as delicate as you. Other components seem to take much more force than the aforementioned details of the minifigure, at least in my experience. Because of this, I choose to not remove hands, arms, and legs, unless special circumstances arise. To me, this torso would be near perfect for Gamling until Lego provides a true alternative.

I'm actually pretty brutal with my stuff. :P

My philosophy is that if you're way to careful, you're bound to mess up because you're tense and nervous about messing things up.

I'm fairly delicate and I notice figures that I've dismantled have cracks, presumably due to the removal of arms. That's fine for you, but I will enjoy my new, Yellow, Gamling among my flesh-toned Rohirrim.

Are you using the same legs that come with the torso? Since you said you don't remove the legs either. :P

As in I don't remove legs from waist, but I'm sure you are aware of that already.

Nope.

Because hip removal cracks torsos.

Not in my experience. The aforementioned torso, King Revet's head, Elizabeth's hair, and dark grey legs will make a fine Gamling for me.

I didn't see this anywhere in the thread, so I thought I'd post it here. On the back of the promotional Frodo poster from S@H, it says:

Anyone else with the poster see this? :excited:

Speaking about the Frodo poster, is it only on S@H, or can it be found in Lego stores too?

I'm sorry, but Omicron and LRDark, your discussion about minifig customization is becoming very off topic. I'm not trying to mini-mod, but it would probably be a good idea if you continued your conversation in the Minifig Customization Forum.

Please report posts in the future if you feel someone is going too far off topic or if there are other concerns. We don't want our members instructing other members.

Omicron/LRdark, maybe you guys could start a separate topic to discuss this so the main thread doesn't get too overrun with your discussion. It's fine that you are having it but we don't want everyone else's comments to get lost in your detailed discussion.

Sorry to detract the topic away from the purists debate

But I read a few pages back that the sets would be released in the UK in 11 days, probably 9 or 10 now

Just wondering how we know this, i've searched and found nothing, surely some site would be taking pre-orders by now :sceptic:

Same here. Nothing on Google, and TLG tweets won't specify a date either. Frustrating. I guess they'll just show up one day without any fanfare - same as they did in the States.

Not sure if the '11 days' guy was just talking about a general June release - rather than a specific date for the UK release.

Do you plan on adding all the wall sections to Helms Deep? And if yes, is there anyway you could upload pictures to see how it looks with a bunch of wall sections? :sweet:

Only thing stopping me from working on HD is : Do I want to make the keep's curved walls out of a million 1x2's, or do I want to use hinges like in the official set to get the curved effects.
