Anyone who's bought a large set at a LEGO store has likely gotten one of those oversized plastic shopping bags. I'm wondering what people do with them, or if anyone knows if TLG recycles them. Unlike most bags (like the oversized ones you get from Toys R Us), these are really thick by comparison - really good bags. But it seems a waste to throw them out, and our recycling only takes certain plastics (mostly bottles).

I can only find so many uses for them at home... they don't work well as trash bags because of the wide opening.

I suppose I can bring them with me when I shop, but that feels kind of strange (I do use canvas bags when food shopping, though). But even if I were to keep a couple for that purpose, I still have a handful left over.

When transporting mocs, I put them inside the bag in case parts fall off. I've used the bags to pad items when shipping. I use them to carry stuff sometimes. Eventually I do get too many and have to throw some out.

I recycle most of them. The large LEGo bag can hold a lot of empty plastic bag and when I go somewhere that takes bags, I leave them there. Always fun watching people gawk at the giant LEGO bag and wondering where they came from as Caro (MI) is 2 hours one way from nearest LEGO store.

I do keep a few for holding various LEGO stuff. One just to store PAB cups for the next time I go raiding PAB wall. And also one bag just for my cat who loves to explore and play in anything like bags. Gotta make sure she doesn't stay in one too long though. :sceptic:

Mainly for trash bags. They being bigger than normal plastic bags is no issue.

I have a ton of those blue ikea bags for unopened sets etc. Much better for that use because of the wider base of the bag.

They are great as dirty-laundry bags on trips!

Our local store is no longer handing them out due to local anti-bag ordinances.

They will be missed!

Thanks for the suggestions. We've got a couple of week long trips coming up - we'll use them for laundry, I think.

Well with my Lego store shopping bags...oh wait, I've never been to a Lego store! :cry_sad: I haven't been in a city with a Lego store since my dark ages. The closest one to me is at LEAST a two and a half hour drive! Maybe someday I'll go, I hope. I might be going to Toronto this summer so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Judging from descriptions of the bags, I'd probably use them to store junk or transport clothes/junk when I'm on a trip. Or I'd showcase them with my trophies just because they're from a Lego store!
