ZORK64 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Been a while since I checked your stuff... it's very, very awesome. - the energy sabers DON'T cut or stab, they are like police batons, they hit HARD, like a hammer, they are meant to incapacite, not kill I like that idea a lot. Quote
Antrozek Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 I AM BACK, AND I BROUGHT GIFTS 2013 hero design. I am p happy wiht this. it looks organic. but still looks like a robot. the armor gives them alot of moveability and it looks GREAT. like a gothic knight but futuristic and more robotic. anyway I am happy on how this turned out. I am doing a male heavy duty (Duncan Bulk) ver. of the armor later (also. XL does not mean anything to me in HF. I mean. in my case heroes still have the same height, and have no reason to go XL. so they wont look XL at all. they will still hold the same appearance from their XL forms tho) there's always a problem when designing heroes. when you redesign a villain from a set. it's easy. they have their strong points. that prominent stuff that it's easily noticeable and that gives them character. it's easy to redesign them. But heroes are other story. they look all the same except for colors. some equipment and helmet. they must all hold that "made in Makuherocity" feel on them. as in, you can see thousands of these things around the galaxy solving problems, it's hard to give them a good design that fits all heroes. because sometimes you focus on the look of ONE hero. and it doesn't fits the others. so this is pretty much a solution for me I hope you like it! howie28 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 That is amazing! I just looked through the whole topic and have to say, you sir are a great artist. You just make those heroes look like they should as real sets. I feel honoured to be the first to comment on this batch. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Awesome! I think this is my favorite piece of artwork from you. Quote
Logan McOwen Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Your last interpretation of Bulk is very handsome. Great stuff Roly! Quote
Kalhiki Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Spledid. Always love to see your interpretations of Hero Factory characters. They're always so detailed and unique (as opposed to mine which are just stylized versions of the sets). Kalhiki Quote
Bigger Fish Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 But I like your art too. It's a bit of an influence on my style as well as a few other things. Quote
Antrozek Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Thanks everyone for your nice comments! working on more redesigns now. now going for the villains. I bet you barely see me put any non hero character design. decided to change that by making this! im now working on the summer monster wave! Quote
Cirkit Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) I like the new Hero Build! I take it that's Rocka modelling for us today. It's sleek, and the body's details flow smoothly(he has a butt, nice ), and feel more organic, but the shapes of the abdomen, the feet, and the head(and the 'welding lines' and bolts on the armor) keep it mechanical, and I like that about it. The female's build makes sense as far as flexibility issues go. I wonder why the HERO-FACTORY makes female 'Heroes' if that's all they really are- machines. Maybe it's something to do with so many races in the known galaxy having both genders, and having both in the HERO-FACTORY allows them to be accepted more easily or.. I don't know, I'm talking too much about that. I don't see any difference to the HRT body other than the color fading from silver to black(nice nod to the exclusive 2.0 chest armor, by the way) and the label of the word 'Recon' instead of 'Hero Factory', but it's nice that it was included. I like the XL concept, but only as an experimental type of thing. If a Hero is going to be big, he better stay big and not be shrunk down again. And I quite get the logic behind redesigning the Heroes. It's difficult sometimes to keep them all looking like they're from the same place(I found it hard to to even with Bionicle characters), but I'm glad you've found a good solution to the problem I look forward to seeing your heavy-duty Bulk build whenever it comes. EDIT: Woah! That was surprising. Scarox looks more like a spider than.. whatever it was he was before. Bruizer's got the muscle and the hard rock body, and the fur looks surprisingly good on him(or her, or it, I don't know). Pyrox has the minotaur thing going about him quite well. Loving the bright red, rocky looking beard. Not sure how I feel about Orgum, but he does have a fleshy feel to him. The brain on top shares this look. Man that brain is creepy... DraikNova Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Most of these are slightly creepy, but the Scarox concept is...interesting. Quote
xxlrocka Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 That Scarox is gonna haunt me. HAUNT ME FOREVER! Oh, and the others look nice. Ogrum has that plant-like, organic troll feeling to it, Pyrox has flames everywhere and a crystalline beard thing and Bruizer... well, Bruizer looks like a Bruizer. Big, rocky, ready to do damage, and hairy for whatever reason. I dunno, you probably added that because you wanted to make him look like a creature and not some statue or something, but I would have added orange crystals to his body, like the underground version of Rock Monsters and the even hotter variant that lives deeper underground which is called Lava Monsters. Still, these things are great. (Apart from the really scary looking Scarox.) Quote
Antrozek Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 OK SO I REDESIGNED STUFF AGAIN, I NEVER STAY IN ONE PLACE DO I. this is a work in progress of a group picture im doing, the whole ALPHA1 division of the Hero factory. this is the first time I drew all hero armor types at once (excluding XL, which i prefer not to bring into canon because it's dumb i prefer XL to be a suit where the hero gets in rather than a whole body swap) anyway. these are the armor types we got: Rookie armor : Julius Nex and Nathan Evo Hero armor : Natalie Breez and Mark Surge Veteran armor: Rocka, Jimi Stringer and Preston Stormer Vehicle armor : William Furno Heavy Duty armor : Duncan Bulk I'll ink and color this later Quote
Cirkit Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I like the group scene with every Alpha-1 team member. Haven't seen many of that kind of group-artwork for Hero Factory. Kind of surprising, actually. Furno's bike looks really good! Before it looked odd, because the handlebars on the set aren't on the part that moves the front wheel; now it looks kind of like the bikes in "Tron", where the rider would lean or perhaps turn the handlebars forward or back to turn the bike. Smart, that. Also, I find myself thinking how much like the Toa Nuva armor Furno's torso-armor looks. Pretty cool. I'm not sure how I feel about the new design. They are machines, and they do wear armor, but on the Rookies and Rocka it just kind of looks like they're wearing metal overalls over their bodies. I prefer the more organic version of the Hero build and armor system than this one. Maybe it was the torso. I really liked the armoring on the stomach-area and the shoulders before. Having said that, the Alpha Team are recognizable as the Alpha Team, and that's what is important. Stringer's helmet looks awesome, and I don't think Bulk could ever look bad, no matter what form he's in. The fact that you made him big and bulky, and kept him that way, is terrific. Mixed views about this latest design, but I do like the full team 'photo' thing going on here. I look forward to seeing more as it progresses :) Quote
Antrozek Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 I suppose I have to upload this thing that shows the preliminar veteran armor in detail. I wouldn't know how to get in detail on the armor components and built. because of my terribad english. but let's put it like this. 1.0 heroes are pure metal. but they lack in flexibility. armor overlaps eachother and it blocks mobility. and also it makes the hero alot heavier. 2.0 heroes are different. they have a whole built in skeleton with core chamber. entirely covered with artifically generated muscle tissue made out of carbon fiber (good to conduct electricity. but not a good heat conductor. making the hero body efficient against heat). an artifical dermis to protect the insides of the hero. think of the hero body as...briaeros or any other cyborg from Appleseed. the armor now. it's simplistic. with now the hero having a body that gives them flexibilty. greater strenght. speed and less weight. the hero armor can be light or heavy depending of the rank of the hero. or their needs. the hero armor consists of 3 main materials. Nomex, Wolfram and carbon fiber. the hero puts on a suit made of reinforced nomex to protect them from the heat or chemical based weaponry, such as laser rifles or acid weapons then straps and screws different plates of armor all over the body. except where the it would block mobility. which is why they dont have big shoulderpads. or a full body armor like maximillian armor (even if flexible. not flexible enough for a hero). the straps are made of reinforced carbon fiber. and the armor is made of a metal alloy composed of wolfram and stainless steel. the armor protects the hero perfectly from heat, ballistic, acidic and radioactive based weaponry. the whole armor doesn't really have any fancy technollogy applied to it. It's just an old fashioned armor. but more resistant. Quote
howie28 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Nice versions of Stormer. I like the subtle differences between each stage. Quote
DraikNova Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 (edited) It's like each version is just a mutation of the previous one. I especially like the 3.0 version. EDIT: 3000th post! Edited March 4, 2013 by DraikNova Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I like how the Stormers are all different but at the same time they're all obviously using the same base. Seems more practical. As for the group shot, they're all very dynamic and capture the characters perfectly. Kalhiki Quote
Infernum Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Wow! I love the differences between versions! Nice work! Quote
